	Not sure it's appropriate to have O Brother... as an adapation of The Odyssey, or at least other options should be available. Obviously it's not a direct adaptation (it's not about a man named Odysseus sailing home through the Mediterranean), and there are other stories which are also loosely based on The Odyssey (e.g. Cold Mountain).

	Die Hard was based on a book. Well, you learn something every day but I'd never have guessed that. Also, to go with Nuclear's point, Adaptation is not really based on The Orchid Thief. The book itself plays a large part in the film's plot it but it's more of a story within a story situation about a guy struggling to write a screenplay adaptation of The Orchid Thief.

	It is something of a joke that O Brother was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, with the Coen Brothers having never read the Odyssey. So I think it's fine. Adaptation is based on the guy writing the screenplay TRYING to adapt it, and coming with the movie we wound up seeing.

	I'm surprised Adaptation isn't higher. Unlike most of these, it would be almost impossible not to get it after having seen the movie

	In fact, the book Die Hard was based on was the sequel to another book that was made into a movie called "The Detective," starring Frank Sinatra as Joe Leland, the character whose name was ultimately changed to John McClane in Die Hard.

	@ Nuclear - you're right that "O Brother" isn't the only film ever inspired by "The Odyssey", but the quiz does specify the year. If there wasn't another "Odyssey" movie adaptation (however loose) from 2000, doesn't "O Brother" work in that case?

	Only read two of these books, the Heart of Darkness and The Executioners. Only for the latter, it had been rereleased under the name Cape Fear, which certainly helped.

	Just to be a d**k and argue semantics... Since The Odyssey is the first known written work to have the "Hero's Journey" plot structure, which almost every book/movie/comic book uses at least loosely, one could argue that almost every movie is based off of the odyssey.

	The Epic of Gilgimesh came before the Odyssey. So yes you can argue it, but no you can't argue it well.
