	Good Quiz - quite a few that get you thinking.... One thing it shows, with very few exceptions, the original is far better than the re-make. shudders at the thought of the Ross/Kidman; Sellers/Martin and Guiness/Hanks re-makes

	I thought Samuel L. Jackson's "Shaft" was an actual sequel and not a remake? Wasn't he the nephew of the original Shaft in it? Richard Rountree even shows up reprising his original role in it.

	loved it!!! and plenty of room for a sequel, in fact I was surprised at the small number of questions on the quiz. suggestions: Freaky Friday, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (or Willy Wonka depending on the version), Fun with Dick and Jane. And yes, all of those originals are way better than the remakes.

	two more I thought would be on here: "War of the Worlds" -- original far better "Yours, Mine, and Ours" -- Original is a favorite of mine. Don't want to see the 'new' one.

	Technically, "Little Shop of Horrors" isn't a remake. It's an adaptation of a stage musicalization of the original film. I'm not sure it counts when it's that far removed. The new "Hairspray" would be the same thing.

	Shaft 2000 was NOT a remake, it was a sequel. Richard Roundtree appears as the original John Shaft in the movie.

	Dan Zam Mr. Wilford Brimley was imitating the tourettes guy who did say "Who the hell is Rick Moranis" He couldn't care less about an actual answer. And why do most of you hate the remakes? Clooney, Sandler, Murphy, and Hanks all did a great job.

	The Stepford Wives remake was HORRIBLE. I saw the original after the fact, and was surprised, for I thought it would be the exact same. But no! It's actually cleverly made, unlike the 2004 remake. But... I gotta say, the Little Shop Of Horrors "remake" is much better than the original. I agree with renitajenkins, it's an adaptation of the stage show, not the original film.

	Interestingly, Vincent Price and Jeff Glodblum play totally different characters in the original and the remake of the film in question. I also think that in this case, the original and remake can happily co-exist as the plots are so different - the Vincent Price character doesn't even exist in the remake.

	I've seen the original and the re-make of only Planet of the Apes and King Kong. For me, it's evenly divided as to which is better, the original or the re-make. The original Planet of the Apes is far superior to the re-make, but I think the re-made King Kong is much better than the original (even if it does seem like it's as long as all three Lord of the Ring films put together).

	@Cowfrappe: If it's got the same title, general story, and characters... it's a remake. Every remake is going to change certain things they'll always be a 'different film' hence why so many remakes are rubbish.

	The only title on this list that I've seen both versions of is The Parent Trap and I'd have to say I enjoyed the remake more (when I was about 12, which is kinda the age it's aimed at.)

	There's a whole ton of remakes of Michael Caine movies left out - Alfie, Get Carter, Sleuth. General rule: every Michael Caine movie must be remade. Corollary: If possible, Jude Law should play the Michael Caine character.

	For all the people that say the originals are always better, you have to at least agree that Estella Warren (chick in the 2001 planet of the apes) was way hotter than Linda Harrison (chick in the old one)

	I tried to watch the original Ocean's Eleven because the remake is one of my favorite movies. For its time it might have been very good, but in comparison.... well, no comparison.

	Also, with Day the Earth Stood Still - It is very much a product of its times. It came out in '51 right at the beginning of the Cold War. People in the US were fearful of total nuclear annihilation. That's very much why Klaatu and Gort were there to promote a message of peace. Having Klaatu as a Christ figure didn't hurt either.

	Another remake that can stand proud alongside the original is Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. The remake with Donald Sutherland is just as good, if not better, than the original.

	Somehow, I don't think 'Starsky and Hutch' was a remake, it was a movie version of a TV show. And, for some reason, when they make movies of old TV, they're farces, jokes.

	There are so few original movies these days; most movies are remakes, or based on comic books, novels, old TV shows, movies from other countries, Disney rides, etc. It's not to say that they're all bad, it's just that there aren't that many original ideas left out there.
