	I wouldn't personally claim that many of these to be greats tbh. Welles definitely, and Altman/Allen/Lee are high in my affections. Anyway, that aside, can I take this opportunity to call Sporcle out on the spelling of "SoFia" Coppola's name? Thanks.

	Yeah, i expect to see Allen, Welles, Kubrick and maybe howard on the first one. One question; Where the hell is Bergman?

	bujumbo: Regardless of your feelings about him or his movies, Kubrick is legendary and deserves to be listed with the other all-time greats.

	In response to J-Dilla's comment...may I suggest one of these with non-English language directors? You could even include some who directed films in their native countries before coming to the United States (examples: John Woo - Hong Kong, Wolfgang Peterson - Germany, Milos Forman - Czech Republic, Fritz Lang - Austria). The list could include such giants as Fellini, Bergman, Kurosawa, Truffaut, Renoir, Zhang, Eisenstein, Bunuel, Almodovar and many others. Granted, this quiz might not grab a massive audience, but it would be fun. I could help with suggestions if needed.

	People, nowhere does this claim to be a comprehensive collection of movie directors. It's just a fun little movie quiz. There could 500 names, and someone could still miffed at an omission.

	I agree with Jaspers. One of my all time favorite movies is "Waking The Dead" but I know Keith Gordon probably wouldn't make a list of 500.

	guyleguy, You're right on Kubrick. Although he's not a personal favorite of mine, I didn't intend to call into question his consensual status as one of the greats. For the record, I'm a steadfast defender of "Eyes Wide Shut" and have much admiration for "2001"! Peace Also, I second jazz's call for a non-English language directors' poll, and I too would be happy to assist with some names. It'd be nice to throw in some alternatives alongside the usual suspects.

	Michael Bay is horrible. All he focuses on in his movies are special effects and not storyline, plot, character development, story structure, or any of the essentials of filmmaking.

	Ahhh..Lumet. Even though '12 Angry Men' is my all-time favorite movie, I can't help but think it should have listed 'Network' as his claim to fame. It did win 4 outta 10 oscars.

	Michael Bay made arguably the two worst movies I've ever seen (Armageddon and Pearl Harbor). All action and Affleck, no plot.
