	I was divided in what I was trying to aim for on this quiz. Hard to know whether I was guessing cities based on the amount of economic activity a city attracts or if it's purely a tourist attraction.

	@packofcrazy8896: Bangkok is popular for not only the reasons you are implying but because it is close enough to a few places with a good market for tourism (Australia, for example).

	Pardon my ignorance, but why Bahrain? When it said there was one country, I was sure it had to be a popular Caribbean or Pacific island tourist destination like Fiji. I guess the Persian Gulf islands are actually the place to be.

	Based on the fine print at the source, it looks like their stats only count international visitors. That could account for some of the more glaring missing cities (Vegas, Honolulu, the entire French Riviera, Washington DC, etc.).

	This was a very surprising list. I thought for sure cities like Jerusalem, Las Vegas, Honolulu, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, and Chicago would be on the list.

	Wait I just realized this was for international travelers only. That makes more sense but I would still expect to see Jerusalem and Tokyo on this list for sure.

	Tokyo according to other sources on the web has over 5 million international visitors annually putting it well into the upper part of this list. I am not sure how euromonitor has Tokyo out of the top 50 entirely.

	There should be also be quizzes of most popular destinations in a certain country and destinations where most people of one country go.

	28/40...I'm hitting myself in the face for missing NY. I thought Las Vegas, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Tokyo, Sydney, some caribbean cities or even Honolulu would be in this list. I also thought Mecca would be higher, being the gathering place for so many muslim peregrins and all...

	I wonder what qualifies as "visiting." Like, passing through the airport? Staying at least one night? Because as lovely and popular as London is, I have a hard time believing more people go there to vacation than go to, say, New York or Paris. How much of that is traffic at Heathrow, etc?

I agree with RedLIon! The airport in Bangkok is a major international hub. Going from one place to another in Asia, or from Asia to Europe, will always have options for a layover in Bangkok. Japan as a whole had 8 million tourists last year, almost all from Asia, compared to the 20million + Japanese tourists who left to go abroad. This is considered an economic problem here, and the government is working hard to attract more visitors, but without much success.

	i think some good follow up versions of this would be most visited cities by nationalities. id be really interested to see how the top 10 differ from Americans to Brits to Japanese to French, etc.

	@ RedLion, it cant be based on airports alone, otherwise Chicago and Atlanta would have made the list since they have two of the busiest airports in the entire world

	@geowiz85: It could still be based on that though, because Chicago and Atlanta have enormous amounts of american travellers (thus not counting towards the international visitors). That being said I'm still amazed there aren't more american cities on the list. I would also have expected more european cities on the list, simply because Europe is so very international tourist heavy (most of these cities would end far lower if EU visitors weren't counted towards international visitors). Great quiz, really made me think.

	I just checked the Euromonitor site, it says: " The British capital received an impressive 15.6 million INTERNATIONAL visitors in 2006". It looks like this list only counts foreign travellers, the title and intro of the quiz should reflect that.
