I think number 2 should be acceptable without having to pluralize it, as the other ones don't need it.

apparently some dogs aren't a dog unless they're pluralized....

German Shepherd should be excepted without "dog" on the end...

One time we successfully crossbred a Bulldog with a Shih Tzu. We called it a "bullsh!t"!

I typed dachsund and it wasn't accepted without the final -s, but other singular names were.

@Lilybert: It's now accepted as a singular but you do need to spell it correctly — dachshund. Easier to spell if you remember that `Hund' is German for `dog'.

Vote up this comment if you know that Scooby Doo is a Great Dane. (DO NOT vote down if you don't know.)

Pit bulls are the best dogs, I have had pitts my whole life and they are great loving dogs, sadly you have a-holes that train them to be mean and a-holes that believe everything on the news...sad so sad

Why do you have to type in "Siberian huskies" to get that one? Why is the singular form insufficient?

@boston bully. I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunatly many breeds are stigmatised purely because of ignorant and neglectful owners :(

i truly think that if owners told people they had a "Staffordshire Bull Terier" instead of a "pitbull" the stigma would go away considerably, despite the Michael Vicks of the world. Aren't they called nanny dogs in the UK? It's all about marketing.

I am definitely noticing a canine bias on this site. There are now two dog categories, but none for cats. This quiz was fun but I have to ask, where is the cat breed quiz?

Huh? I typed "sheltie" and "shetland sheepdogs" appeared? Last time I checked, those two breeds aren't remotely the same.

@Tony - Shelties are most definitely the same as Shetland Sheepdogs. I'm not sure what breed you're mixing them up with.

@seth - there are other kinds of sheepdogs, so it makes sense to be specific as to which one you're talking about.

I LOVE dogs so I loved this quiz. Although I wish the Kennel Club would acknowledge mixed breeds--in my opinion, they're the sweetest types of dogs!
