| Let's see, sometimes their Swedish name, sometimes the English version, sometimes the Latin version -- maybe you might want to use the list they use in Sweden.
In the last century or so, Swedish kings have lived to a ripe old age typically, though many have been fairly old when they acceded because their fathers lived so long. Sweden's current king was pretty young when he acceded because his father had been killed in an automobile accident (I think it was), so he succeeded his grandfather. Carl XVI Gustav will probably live a long life, so his daughter may be fairly old when she becomes queen. Sweden has now revised its laws so that the oldest child of the reigning monarch becomes the next monarch, irrespective of gender. Thus, despite the fact that there is currently a prince, he has an elder sister who is next in line for the throne. |
