Is it cheating if you take this quiz while listening to "Harvey Haddix" by the Baseball Project?

Actually, Kevin Milwood did not. I don't know where you were, but he had a no hitter. In his no hitter, he allowed 3 walks. Pedro Martinez should be a bonus, he pitched 10 perfect innings, but the Expos couldn't score a run.

@RedSoxFan - Pedro pitched nine perfect, gave up a hit in the 10th, IIRC.

Jonathan Sanchez nearly made this list last night, but Uribe couldn't handle playing third and gave up the error.

Good job Mark Buehrle. Not a very good job at spelling your name, though. Also I have three Rays on my fantasy team (Longoria, Crawford, Zobrist) so you kind of hurt me. But good job.

no ernie shore? mlb counts it as a perfect game, no? or maybe they used to just include it. babe ruth walked a guy and was tossed for arguing the call, shore comes in and retires everyone after the dude who walked was picked off or caught stealing. maybe a bonus answer at least.

If they include ernie shore, they'd have to include all the combined perfect games.

I just noticed that Lee RIchmond was the first, and then Monte Ward did it five days after him.

I wonder how many walks Ryan gave up during his perfect games. Fastballers tend to walk a lot.

@conradmcmasters - The Ruth/Shore game was once considered a perfect game, but no longer. It's still officially considered a combined no-hitter, though.

@raisingfear101 - I may be mistaken, but I do not believe there has ever been a combined perfect game. (That is, a game where the first 27 batters were retired, but in which more that one pitcher pitched.) All perfect games to date have been completed by the starting pitcher. There have been numerous combined no-hitters, including Ruth/Shore, but never a combined perfect game.

The last two perfect games have come against the Rays, a good offensive club. I am surprised by Dallas Braden's game.

Sadly, when I heard about Dallas Braden's perfect game, my first thought wasnt "wow" or "awesome job" but "I guess Sporcle will have to update their quiz".

Just unbelievable that a quiz like this would have to be updated twice within weeks of each other. And for three in the last calendar year, that's just unbelievable.

I'm fine with Galarraga being a bonus answer - but then why not Harvey Haddix? He pitched 12 perfect innings before giving up a hit in the 13th. He obviously shouldn't be listed as a regular answer, but retiring the first 36 batters in a row should be worth at least a spot as a bonus answer.
