I hate it when quizzes make you feel like a moron after you've taken it, but it's a good kind of hate. Great quiz.

Only quibble is that Springfield is a place or proper name, not a word.

A lot of these are proper nouns, and as such, not legitimately words. Fix it.

@caramba, randomhandle: Proper nouns are still words, and there is nothing in the description of the quiz that rules out proper nouns.

Excellent quiz. Got the last one (#15) with a few seconds left, couldn't seem to think of it.

Really fun quiz - nice and challenging. I agree with the quibble about Springfield, though - even though the description doesn't technically rule out proper nouns, the inclusion of a proper noun seems somehow inconsistent with the spirit of the quiz. It would be easy enough to find another word to replace "field" in the "Spring" clue, though - how about "break", "chicken", or "roll"?

Could maybe have news-man, -paper, -box. although newsbox is a bit tenuous Anyway I kept thinking news, mail or post for that one and could not get to it!

I also agree that Springfield shouldn't have been included. If proper nouns were allowed, there should have been more to balance the words out. I think "game" could work instead of "spring" for that one.

thatchcottage: the idea is to have a common word that precedes the three clues. Time-out is the inverse of that, so it shouldn't be accepted at all.
