You could do this as a quiz. using only current members of bands. do bands such as the who, rolling stones, the eagles, rhcp, gnr, and others.

Ron Mcgovney was a hard one to remember, he was only with metalica during their formation. Cliff joined the band and the ousted Ron before their first album was recorded. good one though, METALICA RULES!!!!!!!

@DerKomissar: Yes, after he was kicked out of Metallica for being a drunk. Ironic, really. If you get kicked out of Metallica for being a drunk, you're a real bad drunk.

honestly i typed dave mustaine first because im a big megadeth fan. which is why there needs to be a megadeth album quiz. metallica has one and they have less albums

i am surprised that this quiz didnt include bob rock since he recorded bass on St. Anger.

Bob Rock was never an official member. If you're going to include him, you might as well include the "Nanananananana" lady from The Memory Remains...or the kid saying the prayer in Enter Sandman.

@brian and @Speedoofred: Bob Rock is listed as a bonus answer. And perhaps rightly so. He was about as close to being in the band as possible during the Black Album recordings, and even played a few live gigs as the bassist after Newsted left.

Ron Mcgovney was basist on the original demos mostly

@brian: if I'm not mistaken Trujillo rerecorded the bass materail for St. Anger, Bob Rock was just a temporary sideman so they could hear how it all went together and jam out new material. What about James Marshall (maybe John Marshall)? He was Jame' guitar tech, and after the pyro accident in Montreal James came back only to sing and Marshall played rhythm guitar for all the gigs -- one of the few instances where Metallica was a five-piece band.

Bob Rock is a bonus? Man **** that guy, he ruined Metallica's sound; he shouldn't be a bonus. John Marshall, Lloyd Grant and Brad Parker should've been bonus answers. Maybe Joey Jordison and Dave Lombardo too because they played with Metallica when Lars was out once.

@dirkommisar: Dave Mustaine was the guitarist for Metallica on their first album Kill 'Em All in 1983. He was an alcoholic and a drug addict so they kicked him out after Kill 'Em All and replaced him with Kirk Hammett. Dave Mustaine started Megadeth after they kicked him out of Metallica.

@matthewmagiligan: That isn't true. Dave only wrote 6 songs for Metallica, featured on both Kill Em' All and Ride the Lightning. Otherwise, nice quiz, but 4 is too much time. Kept spelling Ron as Rob.

Grant Lloyd was the original lead guitarist in 1981, was then replaced by Mustaine in 1982.
