Exactly. I was just expecting to have to name them with no clues or hints.

How long has the Sea that had become known been known as the Sea that has become known?

Heh. Only yesterday, I was thinking that Sporcle should have a quiz on the `seas' of the moon. :-)

Also, could quiz authors please be more careful to include variant spellings? (`Vapour', in this case.)

Well, that's the first and last time I think I'll be typing the words "Sea of Spumoni" in a desperate attempt to get more than five answers. In my defense, I did try "Sea of Spume" first; didn't think of "Sea of Waves."

@MovieDynamic: Sure there are. They're inhabited by whalers. You doubt me? I don't see your fungineering degree.

I could have punished you by making all of you type the answers in their latin names... A bit disappointed that Mare Humorum is not Sea of Humor.

I actually set off typing the Latin names - those are the ones I learnt! Don't know these fancy English names :P

Until this moment I had never heard the word Fecundity before. I guess Sea of Fertility would sound a bit weird.

Seems like 'Mare Moscoviense' should translate to 'Muscovite Sea' and/or 'Sea of Moscow' even if that's not what its proper English name is. Likewise, 'ingenii' could be genius as well as cleverness.

Mare Fecunditatis is also called the Sea Of Fertility :-) Got a few of these but there were some I'd never heard of, nice mix.

Mare Humorum seems to also be known as the Sea of Humors, and Mare Ingenii as the Sea of Ingenuity. Apparently there are translations of the Latin other than those given in Wikipedia. Who would have thought?

Good quiz, although I had no chance at getting a majority. Whatever happened to the Sea of Cheese? That's what the moon's made out of, right? Or did I miss that day in kindergarten? ;)

"Mare numbium" is an erroneous spelling, the correct form being "Mare nubium". Speaking a Romance language helps a little with this quiz; for example in Spanish "cloud" is "nube".

Damn i made the connection betwen Mare Undarum and waves, but i guessed "undulating sea", and "wavey sea". I was soo close!
