I don't think "Pius," without the number, should be acceptable for the Pope answer. I don't know anything about popes but I just guessed the name and got it. Kind of a cheat since a bunch of them have had that name.

Now... can anybody guess the shortest song to reach #1 on the Billboard chart (at an astounding one minute, 36 seconds)? Maybe that will show up on a future quiz.

American Pie is the longest song to reach #1. Looks like I have a new favorite piece of useless information to mention in social situations.

er...the Mississippi River? (also - if Pius is acceptable for the pope, Louis should be acceptable for the king. Which is to say, Pius should not be acceptable.)

If just Pius counts for pope then just Louis should count for French king. I vote requiring for Pius + the number.

25/26. Only one I didn't get was the dog, although I admit that I would not have gotten Pius if the number was required (which it probably should be), and I pulled a LOT of these out of absolutely no where. Great quiz.

1. the longest word in the english language is not antidisestablishmentarianism, it's pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolvanoconiosis. 2. the second letter (i) of "river" is capitalized in Missouri River.

Is Psalms the longest book in the Bible by words as well, or just the number of chapters? Words (or pages) would seem the more logical thing to measure the length of a book by.

@patrick "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolvanoconiosis" is only the longest word because its makers made it to be. "Antidisestablishmentarianism" is the longest non-fabricated, non-scientific word in the English language.

@444444 Meat Loaf's song is 5:14 minutes, I don't know what version you are listening to. @sporcle The "I" in missouri rIver is capitalized. Also, I typed in "Rocky" and it didn't accept it. Did it think I was referring to Rocky Balboa or something?

@Carmine: But `antidisestablishmentarianism' was also fabricated to be long. The -arianism at the end is completely redundant: it takes a viewpoint (antidisestablishment), makes it into sombody who holds that viewpoint (an antidisestablishmentarian) and then refers to the viewpoint held by such a person (-ism). But the viewpoint held by those whose viewpoint is antidisestablishment is just antidisestablishment. Likewise, a disciplinarian is somebody who believes in discipline, not disciplinarianism.

@ jim I found this quiz to be quite non-american biased... I'd call the US ones TV, Sports, Geography, History, Geography, Geography, TV, TV, Music. For me, biased is the something like the "click & clack" answer in the twosomes quiz. Great Quiz.

@adal - The Judeo-Christian Bible is never referenced by page number. In this case, chapter count is an appropriate way to quote its length.

Wikipedia says Meat Loaf's song is 12 minutes, but that is the full version. The single version was cut in half and that was probably the version that charted to #1.
