Missed Russia, got Gambia. Go figure. Fun quiz, but I think a couple more minutes are required.

27, pretty good. Timer got me! Some I just didn't see it right in front of me. I tried many that aren't countries anymore, I think, it didn't say "countries right now" :) Fun one

that was veryy hard. even my second time doing it, i had to really work to get as many as i did... also the caption's very misleading, it says a lot are in asia and oceania (or at least thats how i read it) when really most were in europe or africa. that made the first time even harder for me. but yeah, agreed with kicking222 and JAJDH, i sucked at this one and the 5 minute timer didn't help. but thats what i love about sporcle - always challenging.

@Saver - Can't argue there...although I DO prefer the "Yes, I got it!" sort of fun more than I do the "How the HELL did I miss Australia?!?" sort.

@Becca - I found the caption misleading at first too, but after rereading it, I see that it's just playing with words that end in "ia." I just find myself moving from region to region thinking that I'm done (I did better the second time, but still missed some I got the first time). The time limit is perfect for my ADD brain. It ends when I'm ready to give up!

The Gambia should be sorted under G, not that it would help anyone get it. This is one of those that you keep hitting "play again" without looking at the answers until you get them all right.

I got all four of the most missed but missed five of the seven least missed...weird. I definitely agree that "Bosnia" should be accepted despite Sporcle's annoying policy of only ever accepting its full name including Herzegovina (which is hardly ever used).

Actually, given that Sporcle only accepts Bosnia & Herzegovina (and that I have to Wiki Bosnia to get the spelling on the second part each time), Bosnia should not be accepted for this quiz.

@Saver: I, too, used the move-from-region-to-region approach, but still found that I missed some major players. Thought I finished off Europe but missed a bunch of Balkan states. Thought I got all of the Middle East but forgot the biggest country there--Saudi Arabia. Thought South America had zero -ia nations: nope, there's Bolivia! Ahhh, it was harder than I thought.

I don't think Bosnia should be included - at least Sporcle is consistent across games (it's like saying Trinidad and Tobago is just Trinidad, or Sao Tome & Principe is just Sao Tome). Easier to say, common nickname, but not the proper name of a country.

I had almost the entire left column and India in the next, then thought "wait, I got it, it's gambia!" only to be sucker punched by the preceding "the". Tough one on the first try late at night, then I was stupid and looked at the answers and denied myself some reply value

Damn; I only got 18 out of 38 on this quiz. Most popular one missed: RUSSIA. Most obscure one entered: Mauritania.

Agggh! Being in alphabetical order is so frustrating! I wasted about 2 minutes trying to remember what comes between Albenia and Armenia...and ran out of tome and missed some obvious ones...off to try again, I KNOW I can beat 20/38!

Great quiz. I agree with those who said more time would be nice, even 1 more minute. I was trying to go through it region by region to figure out the ones I missed. I'd love more like this - maybe all that end in A or all that end in S, etc.

Should have Yugoslavia, Abyssinia, and Northern Rhodesia.

Yugoslavia split up about 15-20 years ago. Abyssinia is still in this quiz under its new name. Northern Rhodesia is now Zimbabwe, therefore it doesn't end in "ia". If you're suggesting they should be bonus answers, maybe, but then there would be loads!

I had a blond moment trying several different methods putting in of United States of America--until I looked at what I was actually typing. Oops... I also tried Yugoslavia, Bosnia (and even wrote the full Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Italia but none of those worked! Still managed to get thirty--maybe three to five more minutes would be good?

Great quiz, and it took me a few seconds to work out why Eritrea wasn't being accepted, too. I tried Bosnia just in case it was included but I agree that it shouldn't be an answer (Bosnia-Herzevogina could be a bonus). The Gambia should be alphabetized under `G', in the same way that `The United States of America' and `The United Kingdom' are alphabetized under `U' in quizzes where they appear.

@tommy s.: Even the slowest typer can manage forty words in six minutes. Slow typing is not the reason you didn't finish the quiz.

@Kathryn: Yugoslavia is not a country any more and Italia is not the English-language name of the country (though it would make a good bonus).
