+100 internets if you get 1997. I was shocked to find this quiz didn't already exist. Perhaps the ASG MVPs will be here on Wednesday.

I got 1997 winner. But to be honest I guessed him hoping he would be there and he just happened to be '97. =D Great quiz, and I agree btroup, ALG MVP will either be tomorrow or Wednesday.

haha...I vaguely remembered that one year when Tino was knocking the snot out of the ball and I got it. Pujols is taking this tonight. I feel like he can just win at anything he tries at.

'89 and '90 the winners had 3 HR's, but '05 had 41! That's crazy!

Wow look at the inflated numbers. The steroid era in it's prime. In the beginning the winners were all single numbers. In 2005 there was 41 home runs. It's fun to watch that many HRs be hit but where do you draw the line of when it's genuine?

I was actually thinking of submitting this as an idea after the derby tonight. It's going to be a little strange having this quiz amended within ten or so hours.

In the beginning there was only one round. That was the case through at least 1994, when I attended.

How many people guessed Josh Hamilton at first for 2008???

There should be a quiz in which you name the players that have hit the most home runs in one derby. That way, Josh Hamilton will make an appearance.

2000-2005 are all likely if not already proven users. I like that 94,98-99 won so many it was so good for the game when he was succeeding.Glad to see the last 3 years have been from fairly clean types of players.

Shouldn't that be, "Major League Baseball would like you to BELIEVE that no steroids were used in the making of this annual festivity." If only.

Can't say its just about steroids though because many players were using steroids as early as the mid 80s, like Canseco. That wouldn't really explain the ridiculously low numbers from 89 and 90

While the roids have some impact, it should be noted that the gap between 3 and 41 isn't steroid driven. The rules have been tweaked several times to add rounds, change the number of outs, and even resetting HR totals after rounds.

Sandburg is my favorite play of all time....I had no idea he won one. Although I'm thinking even I could have won it that year with 4. (JK, I can't hit it out of the infield.)

Also remember the format was different in the early years. It was essentially one round (in total, you got ten outs). As much as we nerds like to loudly proclaim "Steroids!" as though we'd be winning the derby if we were on the juice, that's not the entire case.

It's amazing to see Cal Ripken with the same nubmer of homers as Mark McGwire on any list. Excellent.

Hamilton didn't win last year, so get over it and stop suggesting that another quiz be created or this one modified just to include him.

Wow, 2008 Josh Hamilton hit more home runs in the first round than any player hit for the whole derby except the 2005 winner. That is impressive. Also, Wally Joyner had 20 home runs going into the All-Star break and then won the home run derby and proceeded to hit a total of TWO dingers the rest of the season.

I got Tino, surprisingly, but I was so fail on Tejada and Anderson. I am not old enough to remember before 1996 though.
