Kaka and Zidane are out of order in terms of Euros. I guess David Beckham's transfer to the LA Galaxy wasn't as big as his enormous salary would suggest.

@jbear they don't have the same name. Many Brazilians only go by one name (Robinho, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Kaka, etc.), and for a while, Ronaldo was one of the most revered players in the world. However, Cristiano Ronaldo is both newe and not Brazilian. He is not known as simply "Ronaldo." The adding of "Cristiano" to the surname changes the subject entirely.

like jbear, I typed in "ronaldo" for Cristiano and was confused when it didnt come up as #1. I don't think we should have to type in his full name when almost every quiz on this site gives you credit for multiple people with the same last name when you type just the last name in.

It's an interesting quiz, but given that most of the teams are continental, ordering in Euros instead of Pounds would have been more appropriate. Also, Benzema is problematic - the offer has been accepted by Lyon, but the transfer has yet to go through.

@JoeyV Ronaldo isn't his last name, it's part of his first. He was named after Ronald Reagan. his full name is: Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. However, Sporcle already fixed it, cause when I typed in Ronaldo, I got both.

Marc Overmars is missing on this list, he was transferred for 40 million euro's from Arsenal to Barcelona in 2000 (the same amount as the Robinho transfer on no. 15).

Overmars was part of a joint deal with Emmanuel Petit, he was 40 million euros on his own.

Good quiz but I would have preferred it to be in Euros as it has kept its value over the last few years as opposed to the pound. Crazy amounts of money though...

I thought Man U paid over 30m for Veron. I was typing various spellings of Juan Sebastien just to make sure, but guess i'm wrong. 13/15. Damn Mendieta and Vieri.

@johnboy: keepers are usually underpriced, think how important two have proved over this season: Given leaving Newcastle (sent them down) and Schwarzer (biggest part of Fulham's Europe contest/part of why M'boro sunk)

Another good quiz would be players who broke the world transfer record, such as Maradona, Gullit and Lentini. Good quiz though, missed Crespo.

@natman: Given leaving didn't send us down. Harper put in more than good enough performances. If Owen wasn't sulking about his tattered career, and got his finger out then we would of stayed up.

@JohnJF: Only pseudo intellectuals use Latin when the English equivalent is just as fitting. However if you do intend to use Latin then at least spell it correctly. It's 'non sequitur'.
