Needs to accept "Tzadi" for "Tzadi," and "Hay" for "He."

21/22 - I only forgot the "quph" and once i found out which one I missed, I didn't even remember it. My bar mitzvah tutor would have been proud! Also, re: spellings, I think it is hard because since hebrew letter names have to be transliterated from another alphabet, there isn't really a "right" way to spell these, per se

@Hal_10000: Yes. But they're not images — if your fonts don't have the Hebrew symbols, it won't work. :-(

I used all the alternative spellings mentioned on the wikipedia page on the Hebrew alphabet but, of course, that won't be an exhaustive list.

Mr. Deez, it's definitely not "Zion"/"Zian"/"Sion"/"Tzion", only Zayin (and perhaps Zain)

@Justin: I'd probably do pretty badly on the Roman alphabet if you made me spell out the names of the letters.

common misconception. the letter is tzadi, tzaddik is a seperate word (the letter tzadi wold be spelled tzadi-daled-yud, while tzaddik is tzadi-daled-yud-kuf

This quiz did a great job of accepting various spellings because there are many different ways of calling and reffering to the letters.

Also, maybe have some bonus points for 'sofit' or 'enda mem' and some bonuses for Ashkenazic pronunciation such as 'taf' and 'saf', 'shin' and 'sin', 'kahf' and 'chaf', just for kicks.

@pr: The Ashkenazic pronunciations you suggest are, apart from `saf' already accepted as alternatives for the Israeli pronunciations. (I assume `kahf' is a typo for `khaf'.)

10/22 - I guess I can say all those years of Hebrew school were a waste. Sorry Mom and Dad. I rocked at my bat mitzvah too.

Various spellings definitely need to be accepted. I know them all, years after graduating from Hebrew school, but the spelling in English might not match exactly what the letter is. There are also other letters that are not listed which should be included. This isn't a whole Aleph Bet.

Hm, Tsadi? Born in Israel, grew up in America, but was always under the impression that it's pronounced Tsadik. Maybe that's because Quph is the very next letter, causing them to sound strung together. (I speak Hebrew, and know that Tsadik is a different word.)

@RMB4180: I included as many alternative spellings as I could find. If there are some missing, you can help improve the quiz by using the feedback link at the bottom of the page to let the admins know about the omission. Please include a source for your suggested additions..

I was bat mitzvah-ed 2 years ago and I remembered all. I knew tsadee an kooph but I always spelled them differently. The transli makes it hard. @RMB4180: All the letters are included. Bet and Vet, for example, are considered the same letter and are written the same when they appear in the Torah.

Odd quiz. Surprised to see such a wide variance in the results. Seems like people would either know their Hebrew alphabet or they wouldn't. Why know some letters but not others? I can only imagine it's because of the odd English spellings...?

Quph, really? I managed to figure out most of the other super weird spellings...but I actually had to cheat to figure out how to spell quph. It should really accept koof, coof, cof, kof, kouph, couph, cuf or kuf.
