	I love the quiz idea, but the source ought to be listed- I believe you are missing quite a few players, including (as bball37 mentioned) Sammy Baugh, Sid Luckman, Dutch Clark, and Benny Friedman.

	I'm surprised Graham is least-remembered right now. He has an argument as the best QB ever. I know he's from long ago but he seems better known that Waterfield or Layne.

	I just noticed the quiz refers to "modern era," which might explain the absence of some guys. But I have no idea what that term is supposed to mean. Seems rather arbitrary.

	ahhh... I didn't see the modern era tag. Still, what is considered the modern era? Sammy Baugh played until 1952, just like Waterfield, so how is he not 'modern'?

	I checked the Pro Football Hall of Fame's page and there is a distinction between those inducted from the Modern Era, and those inducted from the Pre-Modern Era. Baugh and Luckman, among others, are pre-modern era. That would explain why they're not on here. The 23 listed above are the only QBs from the Modern Era.

	Sidebar: I recently visited the HOF, and it is incredible. If you're even a modest (American) football fan, you really should go some time: the history is really interesting, and the exhibits are really diverse.

	Does that page explain what the "modern era" is? I believe Baugh and Luckman were two of the first great passing QBs and it seems they should be here. Earlier QBs rarely threw so perhaps it makes some sense to exclude them (though I don't agree with that).

	I guess the "modern era" is if you retired before 1952. Steve Van Buren (career spanned 1944-51) is in the "pre-modern era" but Bob Waterfield (1945-52) is in the modern era. Maybe it's from the time the AAFL and NFL merged?

	i don't know if he is least deserving, but namath is way overrated and yeah the modern era distinction wasn't there when i took the quiz, though baugh and luckman are as modern as jurgensen and tittle and graham

	@JohnJF: Reread, and you'll see that's not what I said at all. "Not for completely negative reasons." And Namath's fame was football related...the SB guarantee. He basically turned the Super Bowl into a game people wanted to watch.

	Generally speaking, the distinction between the modern era and the pre-modern era is that modern QBs (basically QBs who played their entire careers post-circa World War II) were actual "quarterbacks," as opposed to single-wing tailbacks. A single-wing tailback is the primary passer in that offensive structure. There is also a "quarterback" in a single-wing offense, but he's actually primarily a blocking back. Around the time of WWII, the T-formation began to grow in popularity. The "T" is the grandfather of what we think of as modern offense. I think Luckman's Bears were the first team to win a title with it. Within a few years, all or nearly all pro football teams had abandoned the single wing philosophy for a T-based system. Guys like Baugh were tailbacks for a good chunk of their careers.

	Luckman was a bonus answer. If Namath had played for the Denver Broncos and had the exact same career, he would not be in the HOF. It was the NY media that made him the great QB he never was.

	Charlie Trippi played from 1947-1955 and was inducted as a HB and QB. If you click on his profile from the site, it shows him also as a QB. They only list each player under one position on the HOF site, but he was inducted as both, just like Blanda was inducted as a QB and PK.
