I was pleasantly surprised by the number one answer on this list. I applaud them for not going with a clichéd pick.

Oh, and if "Star Trek" 2009 can be on here, certainly "District 9" can too.

It's embarrassing how many of these I missed that I've seen. Some of them are even among my favorite movies of all time.

It's not accepting "Logan's Run" as an answer. Tons of great movies on this list btw.

I'm dismayed at some of the ones that made the list. And they probably made the list before District 9 came out.

I typed in Logan's Run, was surprised to see it not an answer, then when the quiz finished, it was an answer. Why must Sporcle lie to me? :(

Hmm, wider definition of "science fiction" than I'd expected. Great quiz though. And yeah, something's wrong with "Logan's Run."

I saw 1902 and tried "La Voyage Dans La Lune" and was very confused since it didn't work. Didn't know the English title. I also didn't guess "La Jetee" since it's a short and not a feature. Otherwise I would have guessed it when I came up with 12 Monkeys.

Wow, this is one of those quizzes where I'm going to have to sleep then do it tomorrow. I tested the range of this quiz by guessing Galaxy Quest, seeing that comedies count. i then tested Mars Attacks, seeing that atrocious excuses for movies do not count. That was reassuring. With a list of 100 movies to try and guess, I needed to know that I could name sci-fi movies that DIDNT make the list. See you in 12 or so hours, sporcle

I really enjoy the lighter side of sci-fi, so I was happy to see quite a few of the spoofs, too, but no Men in Black? And, by God, no Buckaroo Banzai!!! What do you say to that, John Smallberries?

Yeah, I think the inclusion of Galaxy Quest and the shafting of Men in Black, Mars Attacks and Spaceballs is a travesty.

I knew MST3K: The Movie had chosen a more-accessible film to appeal to a wider-audience, but I had no idea someone would consider it the 44th best science fiction movie ever made. Of course, I tried it anyway and was pleasantly surprised.

Amen, no Men in Black sucks big time. I enjoy sci fi movies, but for this quiz i was just racking my brain attempting to think of what movies have a massive nerd following. Sorry.

To call this quiz hard would be an understatement. And the stats back that up. Close to 2/3 of people got 15% or less right. I haven't even heard of about 1/3 of these movies. I could have had 5 days to complete the quiz and I still wouldn't have gotten a huge chunk of them.

@ AtomicIce: and that's what makes it a fun (challenging, interesting) quiz, in the view of some Sporcle users! You have to use most of the 15 minutes to think about the answers.

@ TotalSciFiOnline: Sleeper is a MUCH better movie than Tron and a lot of other movies that rank above it!! I'm glad to see Sleeper on the list, but when it comes to ranking films, some of these films should be way higher or way lower.

I thought of Event Horizon when mentally scanning some scifi movies I'd seen but refused to associate it with anything that has a positive word in the sentence.

I don't see the huge hype around 'Blade Runner' yes, it was a great movie if not a bit cliche and lacking in parts I mean...the whole Harrison Ford and Sean Yong cop out romance...like really, just a sloppy sappy ending thrown in to appease the masses spare me. I think 'Alien' was the greatest movie maybe cause I'm a huge lover of movies where women kick a lot of ass but it was a perfect well thoughtout film.

I don't like their list very much at all (Star Trek 2, 6, and 11, but no 8?), but it's a good quiz. I do like that they included Primer, but their ordering is crazy. Also, should "La Jetée" really count as a movie? It was completely still pictures, if I remember correctly. Also, I'm very glad to see Galaxy Quest on here.
