The years don't entirely line up, but it would be completely reasonable for somebody to get a Best Picture while going for a Record of the Year winner. What a decade!

A's should work. Especially since they weren't known as the Athletics until 1981.

The list of Prime Ministers of Canada should include Joe Clark who was Prime Minister from June 1979 until the '80s.

Two comments: 1 It's spelled "Willy Brandt". 2 "Giscard d'Estaing" should be sufficient.

Considering I guessed him in a different category, I'm surprised more people didn't get Deng Xiaoping.

Shouldn't Willy Brandt be posted as person of the Year 1970? As i recall, Nixon won both in 1971 and 1972 (the latter tied with Kissinger) .

@tiderc: You are correct. Somehow 1970-72 got mixed up. I have sent this in for correction.

@Booger or @SporcleAdmin: Can you fix the Can you fix the these title of this quiz? It's a bit, I say it's a bit repetitive and these confusing.

Why isn't Allende accepted for Chile as well as Pinochet (strictly Montalva should also be accepted).

I somehow got Grenada by accident...I was trying to backspace "Cardinals" at the time so I'm not sure how it happened. Apart from getting free points like that, this quiz was hard!

Good quiz but it's a little generous to count "as" for "Oakland Athletics". I got three freebies for guessing "Astros".

Back when good movies won Best Picture? So I suppose "Slumdog Millionaire," "No Country for Old Men," "The Departed," and "The Lord of the Rings" are all catnip? Please. And that's just from this decade.

So more people know who won a certain a World Series/Super Bowl in the 70s than who Mao Zedong was... Nice. (or maybe it's just that they/you don't know he was in charge of China at some point in the 70s, but still...)

Shame that Mark Spitz didn't make man of the year when he won a record 6 gold medals at the ill-fated Munich games; can't beat a politician even if he is 'Tricky Dicky'

I kept trying to say Chou En-lai, but it was having nothing of it. @j66: The ever-crazy Charlie Finley took the name "Athletics" away from the team for several years in the 1970s, but they had a long tradition of the Athletic name dating over 100 years. Great quiz, BTW.

Thanks to this quiz I've learned who John Sirica is. Ironic who he was named Man of the Year a year after Nixon (with Kissinger).
