My first SPORCLE 100%, watching TV does pay off!!!!
Jan 4th, 2009 at 17:59 GMT
I like this quiz, though I find it odd that millionaire and millionaire's wife don't work, but all other characters are referenced exactly as they were in the song
Jan 4th, 2009 at 17:59 GMT
Damn, I just sang the intro, and the line is "Millionaire and his wife", so I couldn't get those two without their names. All the others are accepted with the name given in the intro song.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 18:00 GMT
Wow, just beat me to it, lol
Jan 4th, 2009 at 18:08 GMT
I don't have a problem with not accepting Millionaire and Millionaire's Wife. I think you should have to know their real names.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 18:14 GMT
Tim: The funny part with that is that Mrs. Howell is accepted for her.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 18:46 GMT
Mrs. Howell's first name was actually Lovey?? I just assumed that was a nickname Thurston had for her.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 18:58 GMT
The answers were too inconsistent. Some just the first names were acceptable and others you needed their full names.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 19:48 GMT
lol...her name wasn't "Lovey."
Jan 4th, 2009 at 20:04 GMT
Alternate names for Mrs. Howell - (Eunice Wentworth "Lovey" Howell / Eunice Wentworth 'Lovey' Howell / Lovey Howell / Lovey Wentworth Howell / Mrs. Howell / The Millionaire's Wife ) this is from I.M.D.B.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 20:25 GMT
Ha! Great quiz! All you have to do is remember the song. More! You could do lots of quizzes from those old TV shows with the great theme songs.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 21:05 GMT
Not sure if accepting their nicknames was appropriate. I think its okay for the skipper, but not for Ginger.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 21:10 GMT
So much fun! I found myself thinking through the song! I'm so glad I could put in "movie star" for Ginger! just BTW, I can't believe Skipper's real name is Jonas Grumby!
Jan 4th, 2009 at 22:18 GMT
I think it's kind of dumb that "movie star" works for Ginger, but "millionaire" doesn't work for Thurston, "his wife" doesn't work for Lovey, and "and the rest" doesn't work for the Professor/Maryann.
Jan 4th, 2009 at 23:30 GMT
BTW,Gilligan's first name was Willy.
Jan 5th, 2009 at 03:22 GMT
if you know the theme song you should know the characters names too, so quit crying. easiest quiz ever.
Jan 5th, 2009 at 03:42 GMT
why doesnt "the two rich people" work?
Jan 6th, 2009 at 03:05 GMT
Got everyone except the Howells. Just could not remember their names. BTW, are Ginger and Maryann the only surviving regulars?
Jan 6th, 2009 at 12:21 GMT
The Professor is still with us, too.
Jan 6th, 2009 at 14:07 GMT
Jan 7th, 2009 at 16:29 GMT
The millionare and his wife should work for the howells because that's how it was sung in the theme song for the show. Also, I found out recently that the guy who played Gilligan actually used to live in my home town before he did the show! That's pretty awesome!
Feb 7th, 2009 at 15:05 GMT
I was typing in Lovey Howell and it grabbed lovey for the wife while I wasnt looking and accepted howell for thurston howell the third, so I kindof got the last one for free... doesnt hurt the time - still had 41 seconds left.
Apr 26th, 2009 at 19:14 GMT
I found a bonus answer: Charles Maxwell (He's the uncredited Radio Announcer)
Jul 4th, 2009 at 05:27 GMT
34 seconds to spare. I can't believe that Gilligan isn't at 100% though.
Jul 26th, 2009 at 03:24 GMT
I tried "the rest" to see if it would give me the Professor and Mary Ann, but no luck =
Oct 15th, 2009 at 03:04 GMT
I never knew that some of these people had full- or last-names!
Nov 26th, 2009 at 15:26 GMT
Willie Giligan should work - that was his full name
Jan 25th, 2010 at 04:02 GMT
Oh, come on, people--everyone should know Thurston Howell III if you ever watched the show!
Jan 30th, 2010 at 20:43 GMT
can't spell Howell right... thought it was Howe.. FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT!!! nice job cantwait4_2012
Feb 14th, 2010 at 22:36 GMT
I like how almost 2% of people that decided to take this quiz didn't get Gilligan.
Jul 11th, 2010 at 15:07 GMT
This is not a quiz that, IMO, you should get only by listening to the song. Even though we knew he was a millionaire, Nobody ever referred to Mr Howell as "the Millionaire" or Mrs Howell as "his wife". Nor was Ginger ever referred to as "the moviestar", although anybody who ever watched the show knew that she was. If you watched even just one or two of the shows you should be able to get them all even if you never heard the song.
Jul 28th, 2010 at 23:37 GMT
Gilligan was never referenced as "Willy Gilligan" during the entire run of the show, although creator Sherwood Schwartz says that's the name he had in mind.
Aug 23rd, 2010 at 20:43 GMT
Wasn't "the rest" only used in the theme the first season, then changed to "the professor and Mary Ann"?
Sep 3rd, 2010 at 15:39 GMT
Really should add the Harlem Globetrotters as a bonus.
Apr 27th, 2011 at 13:54 GMT
Willy Gilligan was never mentioned on the show, just Sherwood Schwartz's idea. Bob Denver said he thought it was Gil Egan and it got kind of squooshed together after years of being called by the Skipper! Finished in 42 sec!!! "The rest" was only used in the first season, then Bob Denver complained that the Prof and Mary Ann were getting second billing so they switched it.
Jul 21st, 2011 at 20:55 GMT
Nice quiz...I got confused when "Howell" gave me Thurston Howell, but not Lovey. Because "Howell" worked for Thurston (but not Lovey), I assumed his wife went by another name. Threw me off. I think you should get both or neither of the Howell's if you type in "Howell". IMHO
Aug 5th, 2011 at 19:20 GMT
Yes, I know that 42 sec isn't really that good, but I'm a really slow typist.
Jun 12th, 2012 at 17:55 GMT
Please accept "and the rest"
Sep 6th, 2012 at 23:15 GMT
the great debate continues mary ann or ginger. my vote goes for mary ann.
