Loved this quiz! Thanks Sporcle for Adding!
Sep 6th, 2009 at 04:49 GMT
I like these cities of European countries quizzes, it's an interesting mix of most populous cities you know from other quizzes and famous, historical ones that are less populous. Keep 'em coming, Sporcle!
Sep 6th, 2009 at 04:50 GMT
I'm glad Sporcle took the initiative to credit the Bundesliga as a source of correct answers before every other person (including me) did.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 04:59 GMT
Great, another quiz of mine published. Hey, I have a bunch of city-country quizzes like these in the queue for the largest countries (not just Europe), and I'm wondering if I should do mid-sized countries once the larger ones get published. Vote me up if you agree. But I know I won't do every single, country of course.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 05:08 GMT
This quiz succeeds in making me think how many of these I should have known from Civilization. Other than that, nice quiz!
Sep 6th, 2009 at 05:19 GMT
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I absolutely LOVE these quizzes. How about one for, say, Russia?
Sep 6th, 2009 at 05:20 GMT
This quiz is too Germancentric. I, an ignorant American, have a problem with this one quiz not being entirely related to my own country and nobody else's.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 06:37 GMT
15, haha. Thanks, Bundesliga
Sep 6th, 2009 at 07:32 GMT
visited germany on a trip through europe last year. was my favourite place! good quiz!

GeoExpert: I would like to see cities of Finland quiz :). I didn't do well at this, only got 5. Must try again.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 09:10 GMT
Well, now I got 10. Is there a quiz for Australia already?
Sep 6th, 2009 at 10:35 GMT
@juusosieni: I too am waiting for some Finland quizzes. Bundesliga is only a bit of help in this one. Hoffenheim is incredibly small town compared to TSG's stadium... hehe
Sep 6th, 2009 at 10:44 GMT
@Nikodemus: Hoffenheim isn't even a town, it's a small village with less than 4000 inhabitants. It's in the Bundesliga because some rich guy started investing into it largely.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 10:54 GMT
As most of the people above say, these quizzes are great. More some!
Sep 6th, 2009 at 11:06 GMT
9...10...11 is about the best I can do. I think we can all agree that the Bundeslinga is a great source of answers here - just as Sporcle is a great source of quizzes! I can't wait for more!
Sep 6th, 2009 at 11:06 GMT
Brilliant quiz. Can't believe it's finally here. Like I said about the Spanish Cities quiz, this is the kind of quiz Sporcle is great because of.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 11:49 GMT
Despite what commentators in England tell you. The German league is the most exciting in the world. With 5 games to go last season, there was 6 teams with a realistic chance of winning the title. That doesn't include Hoffenheim who were at the top for a large part of the season. Plus tickets are FAR cheaper in Germany. Gutted i missed Bielefeld, considering i've been to their stadium.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 12:01 GMT
Nice quiz - knowledge of German football teams helped - can't believe I scraped in with Cologne with only 17 secs to spare
Sep 6th, 2009 at 12:05 GMT
Should have done better, only got 9!!
Comment below threshold:

not an easy one for not europeans
Sep 6th, 2009 at 16:54 GMT
Love these ones as well. I wonder where Belgium is in the queue, probably just ahead of sao tome and principe. :(
Sep 6th, 2009 at 17:20 GMT
Hard to believe that even half of one percent didn't get Berlin, and almost as hard that 8% didn't get Munich.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 17:22 GMT
ZSP, Not that hard to believe, some people get interrupted, lose the internet connection, or just don't care to finish.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 17:31 GMT
Thanks for allowing the German spelling....but please, where there is an umlaut allow us to use the vowel followed by an 'e'. It is an accepted variant of the umlaut, and it is more correct than using an unmodified vowel.(yes, I know I'm a pedant...but it's my first language, I tend to be a little precious about it!)
Sep 6th, 2009 at 18:55 GMT
you gotta love germany and the BUNDESLIGA! most competitive league in Europe and truly the only league where parody exists.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 19:39 GMT
@GeoExpert: There's no harm in doing more geography quizzes. I freakin' love them.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 19:51 GMT
I thought Bielefeld didn't exist
Sep 6th, 2009 at 20:21 GMT
just a tiny little detail: you should move the location for #20 a little bit to the east because it is located in baden-württemberg and not in rhineland-palatinate (although it _is_ right at the border).
Sep 6th, 2009 at 22:05 GMT
Thank you World Cup 2006.
Sep 6th, 2009 at 22:07 GMT
@juusosieni: Regarding Australia, the quiz on Most Populous Oceania Metro Areas has the 16 biggest metro areas in Australia. It also has the six biggest in New Zealand, the two biggest in Papua new Guinea, and the biggest in Fiji.
Sep 7th, 2009 at 17:38 GMT
I got 10/20 all thanks to the Bundesliga!
Sep 8th, 2009 at 14:59 GMT
The bundesliga (and the bundesliga clue from sporcle) was the only thing that saved this quiz for me. BTW, does that mean Leverkusen and Schalke aren't cities or aren't large enough? I also got Hamburg and Frankfurt, because yesterday was Labor Day and I had plenty of their exports.
Sep 9th, 2009 at 14:36 GMT
@shawnoc: Schalke is not a city - the city is Gelsenkirchen, which isn't large enough (but not all that far off). Leverkusen is a city, but quite a bit smaller.
Sep 18th, 2009 at 13:21 GMT
Wow.... hard quiz only got Dusseldorf and a couple easier ones.
Oct 13th, 2009 at 12:46 GMT
Huh - I knew that Wuppertal and Bielefeld weren't exactly the smallest towns, but I'd never thought that they were in fact among the most populous cities!
Oct 23rd, 2009 at 19:02 GMT
dude you for got wiesbaden
Nov 20th, 2009 at 12:39 GMT

Jan 24th, 2010 at 02:13 GMT
@Jess I'm German and I only got 14. Shamer on me.
Feb 8th, 2010 at 00:37 GMT
It should give credit for Duesseldorf, given that that's a legitimate spelling for those without umlauts on the keyboard.
