God willing, may this be the first and last time the Counting Crows are put on a list between The Who and Led Zepplin.

It's Zeppelin not "zepplin."

Whaz de problem, Phil? "Recovering The Satellites" may be one of the best albums of the 90's. And Robert, Maroon 5 is probably the best of the new popular rock bands out there.

The COunting Crows are one of my favourite bands too, but I agree, Duritz doesn't belong on this list and Levine DEFINITELY doesn't belong on this list. I'm surprised that Hetfield was left off as well as Roth/Hagar.

Seriously - Counting Crows, Maroon 5, and even Coldplay stick out like a sore thumb, heck, a sore extra arm on this list.

I think some of you guys are being a bit critical here - it's a list of bands and was never billed as the "best bands ever". I think it's good to have some not-so-obvious ones to test the old grey matter a bit more than "who's the lead singer of the Stones", which, let's face it, everyone knows.

People shut up, this game is about naming lead singers of famous bands. Not making up a list of 'best bands ever' and surely not 'best lead singers ever'. And as far as I know, all these bands can be considered famous. Nice game! =)

For what it's worth, I quite like Counting Crows, and I think the mix of bands makes for a good quiz. I still maintain that the actual position of Counting Crows is jarring. :)

I really think Benjamin Orr should be an option for the Cars. He was the lead vocal on many of their songs.

radio silence is right, Ben Orr sang on about half the Cars songs including some of their biggest hits like "Just What I Needed", "Moving in Stereo", "Let's Go", and "Drive".

I realize the purpose of this list wasn't to name the best lead singers (there's no real way to qualify such a list), it just seemed odd to see some of those names among some of those other names. I wasn't criticizing the list, just making a statement. I actually enjoyed the quiz.

I'm so glad Dire Straits is on this list! There're one of my favorite bands. Mark Knopfler doesn't get nearly enough credit for what a great guitarist he is.

"Maroon 5 is probably the best of the new popular rock bands out there." Hints the problem with the majority of new popular music. Whether this was intended to be a quiz about great bands or not, for that band to even be considered to be included ON a list which includes the likes of Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones should be a crime. "I don't mind spending every day..." Doing what again? Writing songs that all sound the same? Isn't that how the next line of the song goes? Over-all, a good quiz. The Maroon Five guy's gotta go though.

"i don't have a problem with the quiz. some ideas for more: eagles, journey, beatles" As great as the Beatles are, they don't belong on this quiz. There is no clear "lead singer." Lennon and McCartney took most of the songs, but everyone sang.

@Mechafox: To piggyback on your comment, although Henley sang a lot, the Eagles had multiple singers as well, no?

@ Chumley - Agreed. But I think we can also agree that most people think of Ric Ocasek as the frontman and lead singer because when you're that scary-looking, you'd better be able to sing! @ Douglas - It's a matter of opinion. I like Maroon 5 and I think they could be among the greats given time. Chastising them after two albums is the same as thinking "Boy" is U2's pinnacle and "Bleach" was Nirvana's.

Terrific game. I couldn't recover the Counting Crows guy from the satellite of my memory (though I could see his chubby, dreadlocked features as clear as day in my mind) - I kept thinking "Adam Moritz." I never heard of the Maroon 5 guy; though I am aware of the band's existence, that's about it for my familiarity with them.

I realize that at least American audiences didn't care too much, but Genesis' most recent lead singer was Ray Wilson, and that should be allowable as an alternate. The album was actually successful outside of the states.
