I've ridden half of this list, but I'm still furious with myself for not making the trek to Great Adventure to ride Kingda Ka.

I don't know jack about coasters- I understand why people love them, but they scare the crap out of me- but as a proud New Jerseyan, I love that we've got the fastest and tallest coaster in the world.

doesn't Stealth at Thorpe Park (UK) go at about 80? And SAW the ride. And Dragon Khan is at least 90mph! (Porta Venture - Spain)

I'm surprised that the Cyclone isn't on here. That sure pisses me off as a Brooklyn guy.

@ Whole Lotta Sporcle: This list is specifically for fastest coasters in North America. I don't doubt that there are many coasters around the world that go faster than the ones on this list.

I could have sworn the 6 Flags New England coaster was Superman Ride of Steel because it has been that for years but they just recently changed the name to bizarro

:( The fastest roller coaster I've ever ridden is only 74 mph, the Wild Thing at Valleyfair! in Shakopee, MN. I have some catching up to do!

This list is AKA "Coasters I need to Ride." At the moment I've only ridden 3 of them (including one on my lunch break-- best lunch break ever). :)

I'm disappointed that only one rollercoaster on this list is named after a snake. No python, no cobra, no viper.

@Chris: the remodeled ride is great. It is smooth and yes, no helmet necessary. The drop where you go 85 MPH is great

Ok, this could just me being picky but typing in The Beast shouldn't give you Son of Beast, they're two completely different coasters.

I'm kinda a wimp at roller coasters, but at least I've ridden one of them, Millennium Force. My friend went on Top Thrill Dragster, shes insane. Google it, you might be surprised.

Whole Lotta Sporcle: Stealth does go 80, but Saw the Ride reaches about 50 and Dragon Khan gets to 65....plus the title of the quiz is Fastest Roller Coasters *In North America*.

The Cyclone at Astroland only gets up to 60 mph. There are a lot of other coasters around the country! I've only been on six of these, though. And yes, I rode Xcelerator on a lunch break, too!

Could you consider accepting Superman: Ride of Steel (Bizarro's former name) as an alternate for Bizarro?

you might want to consider updating this now, there are several new rides that would make the list.

Reiterating what bhammond16 said, you should not get "Son of Beast" when you type "Beast." They are two completely different rides. One is not a modified version of the other; Beast and Son of Beast coexist at the same park, but they're in different parts of the park.

i've been on Top Thrill Dragster a few times. it's great and all, but i don't think it's really worth the 2 and a half hour wait. I prefer Maverick.

Submitted feedback for an update. Son of Beast is no longer operational and Intimidator 305 at Kings Dominion hits about 90 mph.
