I misspelled retina as retna and ritna. I am dishonored!

7/18, I feel I got all the answers someone not versed in medicine *should* get. So what are rods and cones then if they don't appear as answers here?

Super hard! Yet sporcle is still bringin' it! @mitch - what is the seventh that a non-medical-type "should" get. I got the top six, but NO idea what vitreous body is.

@mitch - rods and cones are photoreceptor cells found in the retina, so i'm assuming there wouldn't be a good way to label them as anatomical parts of the eye!

yep - got the 7 that my non-medical knowledge allowed. But i am a speccy, 4-eyed, bicycle face, so maybe i've picked up these from my regular optician visits.

And conjunctiva, which is only significant because I was off work and stuck in a dark room for a MONTH with conjunctivitis. You'd think I'd remember after all that boredom.

i onyl got 7, which is bad since im supposed to be versed in eye anatomy, both human an non, lol. in my defence, i was taught different words for some parts, but mostly, i think i just need to brush up!! awesome quiz though, more like it please!!

@Saver - I didn't say that the seven I got were those answers, just that I got them ;) I think the top six are reasonable. I got vitreous as well, not particularly sure why I knew that :P

I've had conjunctivitis so much in life, when I typed in "conjunctiva" I felt like the Slumdog Millionaire.

I get nauseous just looking at the diagram. I'm a little like Rachel on Friends - can't stand getting drops put in or people getting near my eye. I'm such a baby, lol.

why doesn't it accept eye-juice? and i also new vitreous humour instead of vitreous body, but the point is moot considering it accepts "vitreous"

@davidr. You've got some nerve putting those puns here. Let's try to retina modicum of dignity and focus on the quiz. Eye don't appreciate your humour, vitreous or otherwise. In fact, I don't think I've heard anything Cornea. Furthermore, there's no need to co-rectus when our answers are not im-Macula-te. Iris my case.

This is a bizarre illustration. The cross-section with the rectus muscles labeled should be completely separate from the main illustration, not superimposed on it.

How the hell is 'Cornea' more remembered than 'pupil' and 'iris'? Those were the only two I got because I don't know eye anatomy :P

Also, aqueous humor exists in both the anterior and posterior chambers; vitreous humor is contained in the posterior cavity (so that should be an acceptable answer); and optic disc can also be called the optic papilla.

@Melissa - I am also squeemish about eyes & I'm a 6'2" guy! The number of people who've had conjunctiveness probably outnumbers those who got conjunctiva.

Can't believe I missed conjunctiva! Also, tried superior chamber instead of posterior. Knew the muscles, but couldn't get the whole rectal thing down...guess I associate that with brown 'eyes' only. Oh well, 13 out of 18 ain't bad for a guy that's never taken bio!

I got 10, which isn't bad considering it must be 50 years since I learned this stuff. Never heard of the "optic disc" - it used to be called "blind spot" (or possibly "red spot" or "black spot" or some other coloured spot).

Vet Student, who only got 14. Never seen the recti muscles drawn in on sketches... and didn't see the label for pupil. Blind Spot really really really should be a synonym for Optic Disc - really - but I did get it. Also missed macula though, thought it was the same as fovea centralis. Reading up the distinction seems a little arbitrary, but c'est la vie.
