Thanks for accepting "Tirana" or "Tirane" for Albania. The capital of Andorra is "Andorra la Vella," not just "Andorra." Please change. I should be able to click on a country to type its capital. It wastes time skipping through them.

The capital of the Netherlands isn't Amsterdam, it's the Hague so this quiz is wrong.

opk: The Hague is actually just a provincial capital. Amsterdam is indeed the capital of the whole of the Netherlands.

opk: The Hague(Den Haag) is where the dutch government is seated, but the constitutional capital is Amsterdam.

You should include the native spellings of the capitals too. it makes it a *tiny* bit easier on those who are not native English speakers. I was stuck on Warszawa forever. haha

why can't we just type capitals as they come to us? like the nations quizzes. annoying. i guess it forces us to know which city goes with which country. but how many people are gonna know the capitals without the country anyway?

25 at first try. I knew warsaw was the capital of poland, but i speak spanish and i'm use to call it "varsovia", so i missed that one. Same with portgual: lisboa in spanish, lisbon in english. And iceland, man, i know it as "reikiavik", no Reikjavik. I think is cool anyway. Is more challenging for me.

Moldova's capital, "Kishinev" (sic), has several alternate spellings, all variations on a "Ch" for the initial "K" and ending with "au" or "av" instead of "ev". This is a problem with any country that uses a different phonetic system.

@Mountleek: Yes, Cyprus is usually classified as Asia. It appears in this quiz for consistency with the Countries of Europe quiz and it appeared there because it was on the map, I guess.

Cyprus is never classed as Asia, it's always Europe. You may be getting mixed up with Israel, which is clearly in Asia, yet its football team plays in the European qualifiers, and they also somehow get into the Eurovision Song contest, haha.

It's quite suprising that the largest proportion of people got all 47 (16%). Most people I know would struggle with at leeast a few of the more obscure ones. Is it possible that sporcler's are superior to mere mortals?

^Mr Bojangles - nice thought =) But more likely the stats are swayed by the Sporclers (like me) who keep playing until they get them all.

Conventionally the borders of Europe do not include Cyprus. The Asian part of Turkey separates it geographically from Europe. However Cyprus has stronger political and cultural ties with Europe, so is often considered part of Europe (more so since they joined the EU in 2004).

I think it's just in for completion sake, along with Monaco. Ties in nicely with the countries of Europe quiz. Same applies to Singapore in the Asia quiz. And a similar situation with Nauru (Australia/Oceania) since it doesn't technically have a capital, but Yaren is often quoted to be more simplified.

@Sparky: I'd say you're right, at least that's true for me. I've played the game 6 times and now I can official say I know the capital of every country in Europe, up from 20-something the first time I played. I'm proud of myself, but I don't know when I'll ever need that information. (:

Sporcle Gods - there is an error in this game... for some reason, no matter how many times I enter Lagreb as the capital of Croatia, it does not accept it. Yet, when I 'give up' it shows that the one I missed is... Lagreb.

Zagreb is the official English spelling of Croatia's capital. Never seen Lagreb before, what language is that? It would be nice to include all language alternatives, unfortunately it would be a nightmare to set that up.
