	This is just a random question, but what is so special about the 1994 Rangers? they won the Stanley Cup, yes, but so have various teams since then, in much more dramatic fashion. As a hockey fan, I can't distinguish anything special about that year. Am I missing something?

	Its really just because New York is the centre of the Sports universe, or at least they like to believe.... If the Toronto Maple Leafs had won the cup, the ESPY would have gone to another sport.

	The USA Women's Soccer team needs more acceptable alternatives. Even though it should be noted that the entire list is a joke mainly used to allow voters to pick the team that won a championship that sucked the most during the regular season (The 2007 Red Sox were a FAR better team than the 04 club that simply had a more dramatic post-season run).

	I agree that more choices should be accepted for the US women's soccer team and UConn women's basketball. I eventually got 'Huskies' to work but never figured out a combo for US women's soccer. Bumping the time up to ten minutes probably couldn't hurt either.

	ESPN's big office is Connecticut, not New York. Still, everything NY is "THE BEST EVER". Look how much they cover the Giants, Yankees, Mets, Knicks etc even if they aren't that good. Its sickening. Also, I couldn't get anything to work for the Women's soccer team. I kept typing USA Women's soccer and other variants with no luck.

	@Fatbeard: I think it's two things. One, the Rangers hadn't won a cup in 54 years which made it that much more dramatic, coupled with the fact that every other team in 1994 that won wasn't that special. Who else would they give it to? Baseball didn't have a World Series and both the Rockets and Cowboys had multiple titles. I'm not trying to make excuses because I'm a Rangers fan, but they really were the best team that year.

	Regarding the Rangers, they were the best team by far in the NHL reg season that year, won 2 game 7s in the conf finals and finals, and ended the longest drought in the NHL at that time, 54 years (they've now won 1 title in 69 years!). Back then, the ESPYs were held during the NBA All-Star break. There was no WS winner in 94 due to the strike. The Rockets beating the Knicks was nothing special, a season noted for ugly basketball more than anything else. Your best argument would be the Niners winning the Super Bowl handily in Jan. of 95, their 5th title in 14 years. In college you have a good Arkansas team beat Duke for the 94 hoops title and in football, Nebraska won its 2nd straight title, undefeated both years. So, you got the Rangers, the Niners and the Huskers. All good choices. East Coast Bias wins!

	Really, I only got the 2000 usa women's soccer team b/c I was convinced it was right, and finally i tried typing in "team usa." It accepted it after "team." That's right: The most outstanding team in 2000 was "team."

	The Rangers were the best team of 1994 in any sport that finished its season. I'm not even a Rangers fan and I remember the awesome 7 game series with the Devils and Canucks. Just because its a NY team, you dont have to be a hater.

	micheal johnson beat donovan bailey in 1997? really? Bailey beat him in two races that year and set the 100m world record in Atlanta. I don't want to be one of those American bias accuser types, but objectively, I think ESPN gave it to the wrong guy that year.

	That Steelers choice was a poor one. They barely made the playoffs that season and got hot at the right time to win a title. It's not as if they were a dominant champion and the best team in sports that year.

	As soon as I saw the word "horse" under best female, I just knew it had to be Lindsay Davenport. I kept trying different spellings over and over again. Probably cost me 3 minutes. Who the hell is Julie Krone?

	You can tell there's a lot of bias here. None of the athletes were from hockey, and the athletes who were outside of the NFL, NBA, or MLB were Americans domintating a sport not normally won by Americans (such as Armstrong). Not surprising given it's an American broadcast channel where most of its viewers aren't going to know who Mario Lemieux is.

	I graduated from UConn and live in Connecticut, where the UConn Huskies are like a state religion. But even with all that, I still missed Diana Taurasi, Rebecca Lobo and the UConn Huskies on this quiz. That's a pretty epic fail. On an unrelated note, pretty surprised to see a lack of Kobe on here.

	@Jim: Oh dear lord... most of the people who use this site are American. Most of the people who make quizzes for it are American. One, there's no reason there shouldn't be tons of quizzes on American sports, and two, there are PLENTY of quizzes on sports in other nations. There are ten (by my count) published quizzes about the Premier League, and while that's not as many as the four big US sports, it's still not a shabby number. [For the record, soccer is my favorite sport. I watch it constantly- I'm watching it right now.] This is a site that gives you free entertainment multiple times a day, so stop complaining when there's a quiz about a topic that doesn't interest you.
