Given it's dominance in the ratings at the time, kinda surprised not to see Bill Cosby on the list! (And John Goodman come to think of it!)

I don't put any stock in the Emmys. That's actually due in part for the Grammys always awarding the wrong people. It's made me distrust all major award shows.

Poor MJF...I couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of that Adventures of an Incurable Optimist. Its too hard to see him like that.

Another one where I know the person, but can't spell the name; in this case, Tony Shalhoub.

What happened to Jim Carrey? He's the best comedy actor ever!

Drives me nuts when I can picture the guy and remember all the movies he did but not his name (Harry and the Hendersons, World According to Garp, Terms of Endearment). Aargh.

Jesus, Tony Shalhoub is tricky to spell. Somehow I forgot that but managed to remember Jack Albertson's name (as "Grandpa Joe" doesn't work, evidently).

@iq_unknown, I think Cosby made a point to never submit himself for Emmy Awards, not believing in competition among actors.

only got the actor in Soap because i knew him from Empty Nest, also i tried three other actors on Taxi who i thought were actually funnier than the actor who won

@sporcrates, Carrey is a movie actor not a sitcom actor so he wouldn't be in the running for an emmy

geo, the other actors you tried from Taxi all probably won... for supporting actor. I'm pretty sure both Devito and Lloyd won at least once during the run of the show, Kaufmann, I don't know.

Is there a reason why this quiz starts at 1975 and doesn't go back to the beginning of the Emmys in the 1950s?

Am I the only one who got Tony Randall from the SNL sketch with Tom Hanks?? I literally had to hear the phrase "Hey! Tony Randall!" in my mind to remember him.

Geowiz, I got it the other way around (from Empty Nest). Looking at this list though, it sucks that Jeremy Piven for Entourage and either John McGinley or Zach Braff for Scrubs never won anything.

I have never heard of Extras before. I only know of Ricky Gervais because he created the original Office (even though the American one is way better, sorry to the Brits!).

@Vernon: Jeremy Piven has won the best supporting actor emmy for Entourage the last three years. This quiz is for best lead actor.

I could picture Richard Mulligan in both roles, but could not get his name. Speaking of rare company, how about Kelsey Grammer's four wins for the same role spanning a decade?

I find it sad only 35% of quiz takers got Carroll O'connor. Also, Bill Cosby always took his name out of the running, so he was never eligible to win during the run of The Cosby Show

Got luck on Richard Mulligan. I knew it was him for Empty Nest and figured I'd be stuck on Soap. First guess was Billy Crystal.

Pretty sure I guessed all of the regulars from Taxi *except* Hirsch. I haven't watched that show in years, but I think it says something that I didn't even remember his character's existence....
