	I never liked the way you have to type out every number for a particular name with these monarch quizzes (and the pope one). It should be enough to know just the names and it will give you all the numbers. Otherwise you sit there typing "Christian I" "Christian II" etc. until one of them doesn't work and you know you're done.

	The danish versions of the names should be acceptable, I am danish and couldn't get that many because the names are completely different. Fx. Canute is Knud in danish.

	Thank you, Daniel. This is a great quiz. I got everyone, although it took me some six minutes recalling all of them. But being an Icelander and a royalist I should be familiar with the subject. We shared monarchs with the Danish from the 14. century until 1944. Therefore we (Icelandic royalists) consider the present monarch in Denmark also the rightful head of state of Iceland.

	I'd have got more if Canute II had been accepted as I would have continued with that name. Got 3 in the end but Hans was a fluke and got Niels as I was thinking whether any shared Niels Bohr's name. I agree Hamlet should be a bonus.

	Why aren't 'Christian' and 'Frederick' acceptable for 'Christian I' and 'Frederick I'? I just went straight on to trying other names when they didn't come up. Good quiz, poorly executed.

	I agree that the a I shouldn't necessarily be required for the first monarch of that name since you move on to other names. After the I comes up, totally acceptable to have to type in II, III, IV etc! Would have got a fair few more had I not given up on Eric etc.

	@Joe Ball: why not? It is their official name and title. This is is also how it works with the quizzes regarding British and French monarchs. @Emily Howard:Imaginative or not, France had 18 Louises. Regarding Harald, he was a Norwegian king who united Norway under one crown in the ninth century. He proposed to a woman who said she would only accept him if he were the king of whole Norway. He vowed not to cut his hair until he had accomplished the task. It took him ten years and he became known as Harald Tanglehair. When he had conquered all the small kingdoms of Norway he finally could cut his hair and became known after that as Harald Fairhair. Heavy taxation imposed by him led many chiefs to leave the country and settle in the, until then, uninhabited Iceland. That's how Iceland's settlement began.

About Harald, I thought I recalled he had something to do with the settlement. 	All the ones with a 'I' following their names show up without the 'I' (like Christian for Christian I, etc.) except for Sweyn - that one still requires the full Sweyn I. Can that be fixed to make it more consistent? Thanks!

	@bdon: No it was actually the same king. He was king over two periods - I can't remember the reason, but I'm pretty sure there were some fights and battles and stuff about who were to be king

Ég hef reyndar heyrt einhverntíma um félag sem heldur frammi slíkum skoðunum, en það er langt síðan ég heyrði frá þeim síðast. Ég hefði haldið að það væri góður tími hjá ykkur núna í þessu ástandi. Við værum bókað ekki í verri stöðu núna ef sambandið við Dani væri sterkara.

	@Emily: Reyndar held ég að við værum vissulega betur komin í ríkjasambandi við Dani og þá sjálfkrafa einnig við Færeyinga. Aðal baráttumálið er hins vegar ekki ríkjasamband, heldur að viðurkennt sé Margrét II. sé réttborinn þjóðhöfðingi Íslands. Landið gæti áfram verið sjálfstætt, þó þjóðhöfðinginn sé sameiginlegur Danmörku. Svipað og er með Bretland, Kanada, Ástralíu, Nýja Sjáland og fleiri ríki þar sem Elísabet er þjóðhöfðingi... annars gaman að spjalla við landa á þessu vefsvæði.

	In all the monarch quizzes I have done, the numeral has been required for the first of the Johns (or whatever). The simplest reason is that on the first quiz I made (Monarchs of France), there was a Charles that was outside of the numbering system. Similar cases come up in other monarchies.

	@Emil: Áhugaverð sýn, en ég verð að viðurkenna að ég skil ekki alveg tilganginn með því að vera undir sama þjóðhöfðingja þegar löndin deila kannski fáu öðru. Það á þó ekki við Ísland og Danmörku, enda held ég að bæði löndin gætu grætt á meira samstarfi (Ísland augljóslega mest núna, en Danmörk til lengri tíma litið). Sömuleiðis, alltaf gaman að finna samlanda á ólíklegum stöðum :)

	I'm Dane. I can name the US presidents and all 50 states, but I can't name the Danish Monarchs and countries of Europe... that's a bit scary somehow. As for the Christian - Frederik - Christian - Frederik... I think it was decided to be done this way to help students learn the monarchs. Okay, you can't remember Valdemar, Hans, Christopher and... Canute? (Knud!) Okay, we'll name them Christian and Frederik to make it easier. And ever since, students could focus on more important stuff, like math, knowing that their king was either a guy named Christian or a guy named Frederik. Now that princesses are equal to princes, I imagine the girls will be called Margrethe and Elisabeth.
