| Actually, Dan, the main fanbase isn't rednecks anymore. Sure, there are still those that you could term rednecks that watch it and love it, but it's a diverse fanbase that spans alot of classes. Am I to think that you also hate football and baseball in general, as in the pros advertisements are plastered everywhere on the sidelines, in the halftime, pre and post game shows, and even the stadiums now are mostly named after some coporation paying for those rights. Same thing in baseball. In college football, the Bowl games are all named after corporations paying for that right. How about basketball, where the scrolling boards courtside continually pummel you with ads as they bring the ball upcourt. Every sport played today does some form of advertising, so I'm not sure how you can say NASCAR is shameless in this regard. Personally, I'm not thrilled by watching someone kick a black and white ball up and down a field for 80+ minutes, or watching 2-4 people hit a yellow ball back and forth at each other for 3-5 sets of 6+ individual games, but you don't see me coming out and saying disrespectful things about said sport and it's fanbase. |
