Good quiz although I feel robbed having missed some of the answers such as the 4 least gotten answers.

I've never watched a cricket match in my life, but I was still to get 18 just by naming countries.

I spent so much time guessing individual components of 1973. Clearly, my knowledge of the cricket world is limited.

only real surprises is to see genuinely bad cricketing nations like USA and Hong Kong have had recent ODI experience. Shameless marketing by the ICC, no doubt trying to make inroads into the Chinese and American markets.

@Adi_Bear: that must have been fun for you.. I think they already have a quiz where you just have to name countries though...

@spartie: they may be "bad" but the only way they will ever become "good" is if they are given opportunities to compete at international level. Cricket needs to expand globally and bring new nations in, particularly at Test level. It is a bit boring having to watch the same couple of teams play each other every year. Besides, nothing wrong with a bit of marketing if it increases money for the game, which could be used for grassroots development

There's a really interesting mix of countries interested in cricket here. I was surprised to see Afghanistan

Suprising to see United States was guessed by more people than 3 of the test playing nations (and one former one)! But then they did compete in the first ever international cricket match vs Canada in 1844 (it wasn't a test match - that was England - Australia, of course)

@spartie: Remember that Hong Kong was a British colony until 1997 so it's not surprising that some cricket is played there. They played two matches in the Asia Cup in each of 2004 and 2008 and, having invited Hong Kong to play in the tournament, it would be unreasonable not to class their matches as ODIS — all were against Test-playing countries. Similarly for the USA's two matches in the 2004 Champions Trophy. As xball says, how will these minor teams ever improve if they're not given the occasional match against strong opposition?

@OscilatingGibbon: Afghanistan played their first international matches this summer and have won two out of the three they've played, against the 1999 team and one of the 1996s. They seem to be developing well.

@dav_uz: I think the USA is a reasonable guess on pretty much any quiz of national sport teams. It has such a big population that there are bound to be hundreds of people interested in any sport you can think of.

Anyone with a passing interest in Cricket or life stories should research Afghanistan's cricket story. It is quite incredible and very serious. A good example of sport and the good it can do. Loved this quiz too by the way.

I am British and I can undoubtedly state that cricket is singularly the most boring game on Earth.

Quite disappointed i missed Bermuda. I remember watching there bowler who was one of the fattest men i've ever seen. His spin bowling was majestic though. Unfortunately i didn't see him bat, i'm sure him running between the wickets would of killed me.

And in all seriousness I think the biggest surprise here was SPOILERUSASPOILER, even more than say the most recent team.

I find cricket oddly intriguing. For my fellow Americans, picture what baseball would be like if a batter could elect to remain at home plate on a ground ball and not be out, and you're a long way towards understanding the dynamics of cricket.

@JeffB: `US' is never accepted for the United States on Sporcle. USA is always accepted, including here.

A healthy mix of nations there.Once you get past the obvious cricketing nations and then the secondary ones (Netherlands,Scotland etc) it certainly became tough.

I had 19 and couldn't for the life of me work out who I would be missing. I never had even heard of East Africa and still am not a fan of naming things like the ICC XI as a one-day international (That's an issue for the ICC though, not sporcle). But having said that - great quiz!
