| I never knew that Genesis 1 was so confusing. In the King James Bible, verse 1 says, `In the beginning God created the heaven [small `h'] and the earth [small e]', even before the first day. Later, in verses 7-8, he creates the firmament, which he calls `Heaven' (capital `H') and, in verses 9-10, he makes dry land, which he calls Earth (capital `E'). And, then, having already `divided the light from the darkness' (verse 4) and called the light `Day' and the darkness `Night' (verse 5), he puts lights in the firmament of the heaven (small `h' again, verse 14), `to divide the light from the darkness' all over again (verse 18). |
