Good quiz. Just a technicality. We call it "Rutgers University," but the name of the school is "State University of New Jersey, Rutgers." Anyway, I like the quiz. How about largest school per state. Most are easy, but some (like Mississippi) are difficult.

Good quiz, but it's Dartmouth College, not Dartmouth University.

The problem with that is too many would likely be "University of (nae of state)" or "(name of state) State University".

Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks it's silly that ONE state gets two entries on the list? Not that I have anything against that particular state, but it seems silly that the quiz tries to get you to name colleges from all different US states and then throws this curveball.

@Sam...For that matter, why not have a college from every state? Yes, the 50th one would be "obvious", but figuring it out on its own wouldn't be any harder than scanning the list to see what is missing.

@Sam...Actually, 2 states have two entries on the list: CA and NJ. And NJ gets 2 because it's better than all the other states. No explanation for CA.

cant believe Creighton is second lowest guessed, figured a team from the Missouri Valley Conference would be a lot higher guessed than some of these non-D1 schools

Please put a note up top that says some states may be used more than once. Most state quizzes only use each state as an answer once, and that could throw some people off, especially on clues for New Jersey and California. If/when there is a sequel, please be sure to get in the states that weren't cool enough to make it onto this version of the quiz (Connecticut, Vermont, Arizona, Iowa, Oregon, etc.)

@mimigirl: Wake Forest, though currently in Wiston-Salem, NC, was actually founded in the town of Wake Forest, NC, which is near Raleigh. Big tobacco paid to move the school to its current location. The old campus is now a Southern Baptist seminary.

this is the first real quiz (not counting colors of the rainbow or star wars episodes, etc...) that i got all the answers on my first try, so congratulations me. i didn't know grambling off the top of my head, but it wasn't too hard to guess. bragging about results usually gets voted down, but who cares?

Kind of weird/annoying that most entries are unique, then 2 of them repeat states. As soon as I had one for a state I stopped guessing that state.

Andy B, all the better that states could repeat. Instead of just guessing states that hadn't yet been listed, it rewards people who actually know the answer, or at least know the region a college is in.

It should not be states (including D.C.), as that implies that DC is a state. It should be the states and DC.

In junior high, my social studies teacher always had us research and map all the colleges in the NCAA tournament. That exercise, plus all that college mail I used to get ten years ago and the fact that I know people who've gone to half of these schools made this a very satisfying quiz. (Just didn't know Grambling... sorry, alumni!) Isn't it nice to do really really well once in a while?
