This quiz is countries that produce coco beans not manufacture chocolate.

Amazing how the second best substance on the planet comes from such strange places..

LOL! I was thinking countries that produce the finished chocolate candies, truffles, etc, at first, not the places that grow the beans......but still, got 19/20 by typing in countries in tropical areas.

I feel like there was too much time, I only KNEW a few, but was able to guess all of them (and a lot of wrong ones) with over a minute left.

This is the most ridiculous (ok...frustrating) quiz in a long time. It's taken me months to memorize all 195 countries and I still get 9/20 on this????

How come you can't accept Columbia for Colombia? I know it's proper spelling is w/ an "o," but Americans (or at least where I live) usually spell it with a "u," so it should still be accepted. and to Lachlan: Belgium and Switzerland make chocolate, they don't grow it. I thought the same thing at first and it took me a second to realize what the real point of the quiz was. XP

Not my favourite quiz. A Chocolate making quiz with the Belgians and Swiss would have been better.

I've never met an American who spells the country of Colombia with a "u."

Yeah even in America that spelling is just incorrect

Americans usually spell the city of Columbia as so, but not the country Colombia.

18/20 but I couldn't believe all the random countries I was listing without getting the number 1 country, which was basically double the production of the country in 2nd. When I saw the answer, I was shocked that nearly 40% of the world's cocoa beans come from there!

I was surprised by which ones were on top 2. I thought the top producers were all in Latin America.

I think this quiz should drop the word chocolate altogether. Very misleading from the main page. Its kind of like saying: Who produces the most cheese?- by that we mean which countries have the highest milk production. If all of the quizzes were named like that it would soon become ridiculous.

Look at the countries producing chocolate/cocoa.....consider the price the farmers are paid for their beans....and how much you pay for your chocolate bar....how about buying FairTraid chocolate? Good, thought-provoking quiz.

A chocolate producer's quiz would be interesting. I suspect that while Belgium & Switzerland are famous for their quality chocolate countries like the USA probably produce more annually (unless it's all made in Mexico!).

Technically, these are the world's largest producers of *cacao* not chocolate or cocoa. Cocoa is an end product of cacao. Sorry for being pedantic!

Switzerland makes a lot of chocolate, Speedbird007. This quiz is a quiz on the actual cocoa producers, and their mainly in the tropics. Then they ship the cocoa to switzerland, where all of the sugar is added and the actual chocolate is produced.

wow couldn't come up with half of them and missed #1..I was of course thinking switzerland, belgium, etc. and other places known for their chocolate and not the beans, that might make a good quiz..this one was educational though

I'm another one who thought it was chocolate manufacturing at first... I thought something wasn't working right when I typed in Switzerland and United States and Belgium and none of them worked! Then I tried Brazil and I got it. Got 15/20 by just guessing tropical countries, but I missed number 1. Interesting quiz!

I'm completely with I_Hate_Registering (great name, too). I don't object to the quiz at all, but on the front page, when it says "chocolate" and the picture is of processed chocolates, you definitely get the wrong idea of what the quiz is going to be.

Statto: If I'm not mistaken, most American chocolates and candies made outside of the US are produced in Canada. If memory serves me, sugar is a lot cheaper in Canada than it is in either the US or Mexico because Canada doesn't have a domestic sugar industry that it tries to protect from foreign competition, so they have very few, if any, import restrictions on sugar.

@starsaphire: I don't think that's pedantic but precise! It really should be top cacao-producing countries - it would be more understandable. @smartart11: I object to the generalization that Americans can't spell correctly!

@Statto: Given that the USA is a big country full of rich people (by global standards) and the world's largest two makers of chocolate products (Hershey and Mars) are both American, I'm sure the USA makes much more chocolate than anyone else. For what it's worth, Switzerland makes about 180,000 tonnes a year.

Cannabis.. What's that?... Oh I forgot sarcasm ends up earning you like -1,000,000 points on here.. The number one substance on earth is that little bit of peanut butter stuck to the bottom of the seal on a new jar.

Speedbird007, even if this quiz was about chocolate manufacture, not cocoa bean exports, there would still be plenty of countries who make SOME chocolate who would not make the top 20, it doesn't mean everyone else makes "none whatsoever."
