"Nowhere man" is a better description of my attempt at this quiz. ;-)

I got the first 3 and thats about as much of that song as I remember. Then I just start humming along.

I love this song and thought I'd ace it but I only got about a third. Are there anymore bonus answers along with winnemucca?

I think I am getting all of those stupid ads mixed up. No New York, Tuscaloosa, etc. I'm pretty pissed off Hackensack actually is here.

Great quiz...tried a version trying to remember and didn't get far, and then tried listening along and got a lot more (though not as many as I should have got!). Best version of this song is the great Hank Snow's, in my opinion...

darn. he's even been to the city I live in now, but I didn't know. I've heard the song a few times but don't know it well. So I just kept writing in state names and big cities. somehow I ended up with 21

Awesome quiz. How does it only have an average rating of 3 out of 5?

63/91 while listening to the song (i know, cheating; i got about 15 without that). I know there's a city in florida called "Opa Locka", is that what he said, not "Opalacka" ?

All I knew was the version in the Hertz rental car ad - and I guess I didn't even know that all that well. Great idea for a quiz!

I can't believe how few I got! Three of the places were in Arkansas, for Pete's sake! I'm from Arkansas!...So, is Johnny Cash, though, so I guess that explains that (...no...). *sigh* good quiz

@joe: The one just before Chaska, Nebraska, Alaska... is Chatanika, a little wide spot in the road about 40 miles north of my hometown, Fairbanks Alaska. Good to see Alaska mentioned twice, though I've lived here 50 years and never saw Johnny Cash once.

What's also cool about this quiz is that having never heard the song, you can make a couple guesses and start noticing patterns. Doesn't get you far, but I did get 20 by picking up on a couple of those patterns (-ville, cities ending with a long O, etc...)

78/91 I had the song memorized at one point but spelling got me. Also, I thought it was Eldersburg. Not Ellensburg.

4/91. Pretty good for someone who hasn't listened to this song in years... I need to get it on my iPod, it's catchy.

Why hasn't anyone told Johnny Cash that there's actually more to the world than the USA? ;)

@America It's definitely Ellensburg, I'm sitting there right now! :D We're only about 15,000 people, but he performed at our rodeo once.

If Everywhere were a bonus answer, then Pete's Sake should be to. I once heard that the original version of the song, before Johnny Cash made it a hit, had a bunch of Australian places that few Americans had ever heard of.

Opalacka = Opelika...small town on eastern border of Alabama And I always thought Jellico was Tellico until I listened again. Great quiz!
