This is one that needed to be made. However it would probably be better if you made it in order and or random order.

This should definitely be on a "guess in order" basis. Otherwise, it's just a matter of naming the countries of South America in 4 minutes.

Might as well call this "name every country in South America"

I wish this one was like the other "continent by capital" quizzes where you need to know the capital for the specific one highlighted. I know all the SA countries already, just had to plug them in.

French Guyana is a part of France... and yes, you can just name all the countries in South America and get 100%.

Yep sorry, forgot to hit the little button that did this. Everything should be (forgive the pun) in order now.

It's a lot easier to name the country instead of the capital. thanks sporcle.

Not to be a spoilsport, but I did already contribute this quiz nearly 3 weeks ago (with a random order/one minute time limit, no less)...and it's still fun! =D

I have never been one to suggest shortening the time, because I type slowly. But when even I have 2 1/2 minutes left, I think the limit is quite generous.

Ildib is right - it is Sucre. La Paz is the administrative capital (what ever that means) - and if we are being picky, shouldn't it be Plurinational State of Bolivia rather than Bolivia! :-)

By administrative capital they mean that it is where the seat of the government is. As I understand it this is mostly for economic reasons. Think of La Paz as the -de facto- capital in a country that has an official capital. At least it's not as complicated as South Africa.

When people complain about too much time, they usually get negative points, but I'll take that risk: There us too much time :)

Schools should make their pupils play Sporcle games in Geography. The amount of time i wasted learning rock formations and tectonics plates, when i could have been learning capitals of the world.

3 minutes is too much time, may be cut down to 2 instead. It's easy because you are given the city & all you need to do is name the country. The other way around would be more difficult. I like the random order.

Ow, how nice that the comment about la paz got below the treshold. All people that are happy that according to them La paz is the capital of Bolivia. ITS SUCRE!

@FozzieBear: that quiz already exists. For me it's nice to have it both ways - I finally learned Paramaribo by seeing the answer for the length of the quiz rather than just having it pop up as my only wrong answer on the "name the capitals of south america quiz".

@Ildib: Yeah, voting that comment down probably wasn't in the best interest of expanding knowledge. Sucre -is- the official capital. Since La Paz functions as the capital of Bolivia, in enough of a way for it to be given the term "administrative capital", I don't think it should be barred. Maybe accept both answers?

I don't understand these commenters voting down the Sucre comments. What do you people not understand about the fact that Sucre is the capital of Bolivia. I guess thesean's suggestion of showing both cities would be better than nothing, but it really should be Sucre. I don't understand you people. Most of you are complaining that the time on the quiz is too long, and then Escaho comments that he created this weeks before Sporcle did, and with a more appropriate time limit (like you guys are asking for) and his comment gets a negative score. Calm down people.

If Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, La Paz is the capital of Bolivia. By the way, I know lots of capitals so did this quiz with 2:25 mins left.

thesean is right that the minimum is that sucre is accepted as well. But still the main arguement is that the capital of Bolivia simply is Sucre. So how difficult is it? But if you all want to remember wrong answers, be my guest. @brandever: funny you say that amsterdam is capital of netherlands, because in the netherlands its exactly the same as in bolivia, only in your theorie The Hague would be the administrative capital of the netherlands (because thats the residence of the queen and total government). So in you example La Paz equals The Hague and Sucre equals Amsterdam. Even more facts to make evident that SUCRE should be the right answer for Bolivia.

I had enough time to try every South American country in the ones I didn't know off the top of my head. Needs less time. @Brendever: If Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands, then Sucre is the capital of Bolivia, as they are both the constitutional capitals. The Dutch equivalent of La Paz is The Hague.
