Please fix "Saint Vincent and the Grenadines" to accept "St. Vincent and the Grenadines". It goes up when you type St. Vincent but not if you already have "the Grenadines" typed in. I only found this because I spelled Vincent wrong and backpedaled to correct my typo.

Those little West Indies countries have got to be the toughest of the bunch. (Why, oh why, did Britain allow them to be independent? It's not like any of them could've staged a successful war for independence if the UK didn't want to let them go. I suppose I should be thankful that the French and Dutch have been too stubborn to let their colonies go.)

At the time that I took the test, more people correctly guessed where Mexico City is than Washington, DC. I'm not sure whether to be disturbed by that or not.

@BamaRainbow: We're holding onto Anguilla (capital, The Valley) Bermuda (Hamilton), the British Virgin Islands (Road Town), the Cayman Islands (George Town), Montserrat (formerly Plymouth, now Brades) and the Turks and Caicos Islands (Cockburn Town) — just for you!

@BamaRainbow and GJK: Presumably, people are missing those ones because they run out of time before they get to them.

it seems like jamaica and st. vincent and the grenadines really should have communicated a little bit better when they were coming up with capital names.

After I got the ones I knew (about 50%), there was still 2 minutes left. Enough time to take all of the North American countries I knew and try them in every blank space using copy/paste. The only reason I didn't get 100% was because I forgot 2 countries. My point? Maybe we should shorten up the time a little bit.

This isn't nearly as good a mnemonic as those for Mexico, Panama, and Guatemala, but it helps me with those islands to remember than none of the "St." capitals go with any of the "St." countries. For whatever reason. I guess they don't want dueling saints.

I was stuck on the last one for ages and ended up running out of time - I was thinking "I never knew that one of those little Caribbean nations has the same name for it's capital city as Canada, now which one is it?" I feel quite exceptionally dumb.

It'd be interested how many people would get the American capital if it just said District of Colombia rather than Washington, D.C.

Some interesting stats. 95.1% of us knew Mexico City, 93.5% knew Panama City and 91.5% got Guatemala City. Since the test has been taken more than 27 000 times, this means that at least 491 people figured out that Mexico City might be in Mexico and Panama City might be in Panama, but they couldn't manage to place Guatemala City.

Regarding the comment above about the "American capital", the "District of Colombia" is not the capital of the United States. The capital is Washington, and the District of Columbia (not Colombia) is the first-order administrative unit in which Washington is located and with which it is coterminous. It is certainly not incorrect to list the capital as "Washington, DC" (as the CIA World Factbook does). But to list it as "DC" or "District of Columbia" would be incorrect. An analogous situation occurs with the capital of Mexico - listed by the World Factbook as "Mexico (Distrito Federal)." Distrito Federal - or DF - is the first-order administrative unit in which Mexico City is located.

Dude! Why do you have to type the whole name? Why not just accept Trinidad, St. Kitts, and Antigua? Other games do! And you accept St. Vincent, so why not accept the others?

Huh? All countries from Guatemala to Panama are located in Central America *not* North America! : North America: Canada, the US, Mexico. Then, comes Central America, and then from Colombia downwards is South America. At least that's how I learned it in school. Granted, I'm not from the US, but from Panama.
