| Kanye West and The Beatles are the only genuinely great artists here, in my humble opinion.
That said, I don't think anyone should be complaining too much about the quality of the list as a whole. Musical genius and commercial success rarely go hand-in-hand. The likes of Akon, Fergie, Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé may not have produced the best albums of 2007 - but even so, they offered some of the strongest pop singles so it's hardly surprising to see them on this list. It could be a lot worse.
I can't help but feel a slight pang of nostalgia for the days when Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and Madonna ruled the charts however. Those were the glory days of pop for me!
But perhaps I'm simply a little outdated. ;) |
