Ah, got half! Too bad that 3 are pretty much given, 4 if you know the Hannah's real name.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 05:51 GMT
This would be awesome if done for years of the 80s and 90s too!
Oct 13th, 2008 at 06:02 GMT
Surprised to see a lot of actual good bands on this list. I was afraid music was being consumed by mindless pop and gangster rap. Long live rock music!
Oct 13th, 2008 at 08:17 GMT
Hmm, I was doing it by last names and typed knowles... damn.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 11:22 GMT
hmmm... for some reason, my answers of "Dross", "Flotsam" and "Stinking Pile of Crap" didn't come up.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 11:52 GMT
"a lot of actual good bands"? Name three.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 12:48 GMT
Do people really listen to this stuff?
Oct 13th, 2008 at 13:06 GMT
I'm with McNeal- I could name one, and that's the Beatles. In fact, I'm going to go so far as to say that Nickelback and Linkin Park are the two worst bands in rock music today (and that's if you count them as "music").
Oct 13th, 2008 at 14:14 GMT
Sounds like some people need to open their minds :P

daytman. sounds like you have to actually listen to some of these 'music bands'. Nickelback are awful. As is Akon, Linkin Park, beyonce, etc.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 14:44 GMT
The Beatles, Gwen Stefani, Norah Jones. That's three. All highly critically acclaimed artists. And I kind of doubt that the folks that think these weren't any good have actually listened to all of these albums. There are a ton of great songs on these albums. That said, I personally can't stand Nickelback.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 15:28 GMT
Why is the Beatles album on there if the list doesn't include soundtracks or compilations? Because technically it's both.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 15:31 GMT
Kanye West and The Beatles are the only genuinely great artists here, in my humble opinion. That said, I don't think anyone should be complaining too much about the quality of the list as a whole. Musical genius and commercial success rarely go hand-in-hand. The likes of Akon, Fergie, Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé may not have produced the best albums of 2007 - but even so, they offered some of the strongest pop singles so it's hardly surprising to see them on this list. It could be a lot worse. I can't help but feel a slight pang of nostalgia for the days when Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and Madonna ruled the charts however. Those were the glory days of pop for me! But perhaps I'm simply a little outdated. ;)

When reading the instructions, I thought I had to name albums. Why are we naming artists on an ALBUM quiz? Especially since, as daytman pointed out above, it gives 4 or 5 away.
Oct 13th, 2008 at 22:59 GMT
Really guys? Only 76% got Daughtry? 77% got Taylor Swift?
Oct 13th, 2008 at 23:06 GMT
Any chance of a UK version?
Oct 13th, 2008 at 23:23 GMT
Why did you post the same comment six times? Anyway, I'm a really passive guy so I like mostly anything, but someone asked me to name three bands so I'll name six: Daughtry, Nickelback, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, and The Beatles. I also like a couple of Linkin Park's songs. Don't be so close-minded to modern music.

Sorry, it must have spazzed out :/

Hmm...lots of ****, but a few gems like Miley Cyrus. Nickelback's latest album was decent. The Beatles - way overrated. Sorry, but when you have upwards of 30 albums and a billion re-releases you put out a lot of mediocre ****. There's no way that kind of volume can be achieved if quality is being put out.
Oct 14th, 2008 at 03:40 GMT
I have to say I really like Linkin Park. Nickelback, not so much. Whatever happened to Green Day?!!! Rap - ewwwww. Not too big on Beyonce, but saying that where I live (Houston)is sacrilege.

Why does Jay-Z pop up when I type "the"?
Oct 14th, 2008 at 15:58 GMT
Does anyone else find it humorous that Fergie mispelled "Duchess" on her album? This reminds me of Ja Rule's first disc "Venni Vetti Vecci."
Oct 14th, 2008 at 21:41 GMT
Yggdrasil: Oh wow, that's really weird.
Oct 15th, 2008 at 01:40 GMT
For that matter, since when are Flatts and Park the last names for Rascal and Linkin?
Oct 15th, 2008 at 05:27 GMT
I got Jay-Z from "the". =S

It's a sad world when these are the top 20 albums. I like Minutes to Midnight, but that's about it.
Dec 29th, 2008 at 22:46 GMT
It's strangely reassuring in these days of modern multimedia that here in the UK 4 out of 20 of these acts meant nothing to me. On the other hand Gwen Stefani is more famous here than her husband & he's a Brit!
Jan 2nd, 2009 at 18:27 GMT
"the" should not work for Jay-Z, bahaha. You guys, music is one of the most subjective things out there, right next to art. There's no reason to talk about each artist as "good" or "bad." You can criticize someone's motives I guess, and not much more. ..That said, Nickelback is definitely one of my least favorite bands.

I'm British and never heard of #1- Daughtry

Any chance of a 2008 version?

This quiz is written very badly. No one is naming albums. the instructions should say "name the performer from the album," which is what we're being asked to do.

EW ALL OF THESE SUCK!
May 27th, 2009 at 19:31 GMT
I've finally found a quiz for the younger generation :) I'm sick of the 80's and 90's version of these. Young people do use this website you know!

Happy to say I bombed this quiz.
Jan 23rd, 2010 at 03:25 GMT
ahhh, the crap we listen to now-a-days. well, at least lets hope you don't listen to miley cyrus.
Apr 18th, 2010 at 16:20 GMT
This is easier than the publishes 2008 one because that one just says Self Titled, but this one says the artist's name so it is a giveaway.

How come on every one of these modern music quizzes people get all heated and they complain about everythings sucking. If they all suck so much, then why are they popular? You can't blame other people for not liking the same type of music that you do. Relax.
