I still dislike using VGCHartz though - they don't make any real effort to be completist - they count multi-platform releases separately on each platform (which gives a game like Madden NFL 07 - a game that came out on the PS2, Wii, XBox 360, XBox, and PS3 - lower sales than it should have - it should actually edge out Mario 2 for the bottom slot. GTA IV, across PS3 and XBox 360, has enough sales to break into the top half, ahead of Mario 64. It also simply doesn't have any data for a ton of major games - it has no idea how much SimCity for the PC sold. When the site reports 0 sales for major titles like that and ignores multi-platform games, basically, entirely, it isn't suitable for a top 40 style game. |
