You should add "Sugar," a baseball film that just came out this year and - from what I hear - is supposed to be one of the best baseball movies in a long time.

You could make an argument that they 4 movies made in 1988 and 1989 are the 4 greatest baseball movies of all time, if not sports.

Great quiz... of the top off my head, the only one missing is 61*, which is actually pretty good.

Yeah, I've heard good things about Sugar, too. I'm not gonna lie, I don't respect any of the movies on this list from after 1994.

Maybe consider 61* as a bonus?

Agree on 61*, and would also add Tiger Town (1983, Roy Scheider).

Even though I'm not a fan of this particular movie, I am a fan of Air Bud in general; therefore, how disappointed I was when Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch was omitted :( Also, I too put in The Naked Gun as a joke, and was pleasantly surprised.

Thank God for no huge omissions like with basketball (best I could think of was Brewster's Millions, though 61* is definitely more of a baseball flick). Interesting: two films starring Robert De Niro, yet neither is his best "baseball" film (The Untouchables).

They should have included the original 1951 'Angels in the Outfield' instead of the terrible remake.

Sometimes the stats baffle me. How the heck did almost half the people know a Gary Busey movie from 1993? Or better than 1 in 3 know Summer Catch?

@ bailey: I didn't even remember gary busey being in that movie, but I guess he's the most recognizable name. it's the movie where the kid breaks his arm and somehow that gives him the ability to throw like 110mph so he becomes a big league pitcher. I would bet most of the people who got it, Gary Busey's name didn't help at all

Now I have to live with the shame that not only did I get it in this quiz, but that I've also seen 'Ed' all the way through.

If you follow the link from "Fever Pitch" it turns out that it was known as "The Perfect Catch" outside the USA & Canada, so could the latter be acceptable as an alternative answer, please? Thanks.

The quiz was too heavily weighted toward the modern era. Only four from before 1984? Bios of Ruth, Dizzy Dean and Grover Cleveland Alexander (played by Reagan) were made in the 1940s, as well as the very amusing It Happens Every Spring.

@bailey: I guessed it because I remembered watching it at school one day at school when there was a teacher's strike, I don't remember Gary Busey being in that film, but I remembered the name and the era and given it was about baseball had a stab. I bet others were the same.

You know why you don't remember Gary Busey in Rookie of the Year? Because that was before his motorcycle accident and he was still half way sane back then. Not even the same person.

"Clear the mechanism." Hahaha. That movie sucked. My little sister could have hit .400 off of Billy Chapel. Worst pitching motion EVER.

@Camdem: I agree with you about "For the love of th game". That movie barely even qualifies for this quiz, it's a chick flick. There are like 12 minutes of baseball in the entire movie.

what about Fear Strikes Out (Jimmy Piersall Story). Wasn't Fever Pitch actually a futbol movie from England then remade into an American Baseball movie?

im having a hard time with the fact that 61* hasnt been added in yet. Ben is usually good about fixing his mistakes..but this one is bothering me..and i dont want it as a bonus...put it in Ben, youre better than this.

@mark. Yes, Fever Pitch, the Nick Hornby novel was about his obsession with football and the British movie starred Colin Firth. The American film had to be rewritten during production, because it was being filmed at the same time the Red Sox were actually winning the World Series.
