"Missile Command" is misspelled.

I'm surprised at some of these. I put in ET as a joke, because it was one of the most infamous failures of video game history, and didn't expect it to be one of the platform's top-selling games. Adventure FTW.

Apparently the games I had were not the popular ones since most did not appear on this list. How could Combat not be on this list. Everyone had Combat. (Although I did guess E.T. but never had the game.)

I think that Combat was included with the system when you bought it, so that may be why it's not listed. I was surprised not to find Breakout, Night Driver, Asteroids, etc., but a nostalgic smile came to my face when Kaboom worked.

yeah, reaching the fringes of my memory on this one... surprised no dig dug, breakout, pong, basketball (were these on the 5200 or 7800 instead?... i should go wikipedia). but the good news is that if this atari 2600 list was put up today, that means nintendo, sega genesis lists, etc... should be coming up in the next couple of weeks :)

One of my friends had the Intellivision console back then. Instead of the joystick, it contained a thumb-pad controller. We played a lot of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons and Burger Time.

No Atari for me, which is why I failed at this game. We had a Commodore 64. I'm going to try and get my father-in-law, a printer, to make me a T-Shirt that says load"chopperrun",8,1. Sweet.

I'm with Mr. T. Especially Combat, Pole Position and Asteroids. Everyone had those games.

I had an intellivision at the time, so this one was tough. I guessed a lot of the ones that weren't listed, but I'm horrified that I couldn't even manage to get Pac-Man! Speaking of Pong - did anyone else have the original Pong that came in its own console with attached knobs?

I'd like to know what the basis of this list was? I find it hard to believe that Asteroids, Breakout, Defender, and something from the "real sports" series wasn't on the list

Not very accurate. Combat and Asteroids, Breakout, and many others sold over a million copies. 1 star.

in my opinion, the atari 2600 joystick was the best game controller ever. yes, i'm a dinosaur. but it was simple, responsive, and sufficient. most of the subsequent controllers were too clunky and complex for me. yes, i'm a simpleton.

Man I'm old...got 5/12 which looks to be far above the average. What's the difference between Pitfall and Jungle Hunt? I had Jungle Hunt...and every screen shot I've ever seen for Pitfall looks exactly the same as Jungle Hunt. I was really hoping Jungle Hunt would count for Pitfall, as I can never remember Pitfall. To echo others, really surprised super breakout, pole position were not among the most popular.

No Asteroids or Donkey Kong? I'm not sure about that. Did anyone here have the Superman Atari 2600 game? That was a good one. The REALLY sad thing about it is that to this day it's still one of the better Superman games ever made. It's true. He's the most powerful superhero ever and yet hardly any IDIOT game programmer can make a halfway decent Superman game. Frustrating!!

The problem with the list is that many of the games were made by activision and not Atari, making it confusing at best. Games like Frogger/Donkey Kong were also very popular, but not made by Atari either.
