This list is not unique, though it is the most common representation. You should cite a better source than the history channel website--try a historical one: erlach or van heemskerck. Also, "pharos" should be acceptable for lighthouse.

I think these answers are a bit unspecific. For example, instead of just allowing "temple" you should have to get "temple of artemis" or "temple at ephesus". "Zeus" and "pyramid" are a bit vague too. And I think "Pharos" was the island where the lighthouse was located, so maybe just "pharos" would be a bit vague too.

Brett, I think what you're trying to say is they are smart and you lack intelligence.

Maybe Brett Brett doesn't learn anything at school (like grammar, spelling, punctuation) because he spends too much time on Sporcle. Only, I can't work out why he's here if he thinks it makes you a geek.

The blisteringly radiant sunspot of Brett Brett's mid September rants were only around for but a moment. He was a riddle wrapped in a question, wrapped in an enigma. And then wrapped in a crepe. With strawberries and chocolate syrup.

Tom, Pharos would be vague, but the word became synonomous with the lighthouse - in fact, in many languages, Pharos is the root of the word lighthouse. I agree that temple is vague. Good quiz.

Does anyone think this is a little long for the quiz? After a minute I had five of them, and an extra four minutes was going to make no difference whatsoever!

"Temple" is too vague to be rewarded as is just typing "Zeus". Also as the name suggests the Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus is in Halicarnassus not Ephesus. Perhaps the location should be listed as Asia Minor/Turkey.

the zeus is fine because you still have to know that it was zeus. the temple is the only non specific one. But the great pyramid of giza was way too specific

I am mad because I typed "Colossus" and it would not accept because you had to add "At Rhodes" Same for Great Pyramids

Time should be shorter and the quiz should be more difficult in the sense that everyone else is saying. Otherwise, good quiz.

Good quiz, though complete lack of consistency in what was accepted. "Great pyramid of Giza" incredibly specific, "temple", among others, far too vague

@RonB:If you typed that comment after WWII, you are most certainly wrong. Rhodes has been a part of the Republic of Greece ever since the Italians lost it to Britain in the war.

Uum RonB, you might wanna check a map. Rhodes is definitely part of Greece and Greeks have inhabited the island since antiquity.

"Giza" should be required for the pyramid, the full term "Lighthouse of Alexandria", the full "Colossus of Rhodes", "statue of Zeus" for "Statue of Zeus at Olympia", "Temple of Artemis" for "Temple of Artemis at Ephesus", and "Mausoleum of Maussollos" for "Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus".

I typed in TOMB and it gave me Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus (just as well!). PYRAMID, ZEUS and HANGING GARDENS also worked as is, but not TEMPLE by itself.

Why accept "Hanging Gardens of Babylon" but not "Hanging Garden of Babylon"? None of the other answers require you to be that specific.
