I managed to get them all. This was actually quite easy since I learned them alphabetically. Seemed like the sensible way to do it.

I love geography quizzes, but I see no need to alphabetize them.

Waaaay too much time. @Leeny, yeah, having learned the "Fifty Nifty United States" song in fourth grade sure comes in handy here.

I liked having enough time to guess - the states don't all come to mind straight away for me, so I had fun trying to place the ones I thought of as they came to me!

@superpole2000: totally agree. I love the geography ones as is, and I am terrible at them but alphabetizing them just makes me even worse! hah. I should've paid more attention in high school.

I never heard the "Fifty Nifty" song. I learned them from the map. I can do that quiz in about 90 seconds but missed three in this one. This is definitely tougher, which is a good thing.

Never knew when I was learning that dratted song over 40 years ago how useful it would be over the years. If only they'd set it to "Start me up" or "A Hard Day's Night." 74 seconds, here. It also helps that I can still type.

That song is forever etched in my brain...on the name the states quiz I didn't even look at the map, I just typed them in in alphabetic order from the song.

There's definitely nothing wrong with the time limit. As a Brit, I found it hard and only just managed half in the time. I suppose this will be a practise makes perfect one...

too much time for Americans, for others it is probably right, would be nice if you good do two versions one with 7 minutes and another with 4 minutes for us Yankees, or maybe make it if you get 4 or 5 errors the quiz ends like the area code quiz. Nice idea, and I totally blanked on Oklahoma otherwise would have saved myself about a minute.

Man, the comment ratings here can be so weird sometimes. One person mentions the "Fifty Nifty" song and gets -3, but right after that somebody else mentions the same thing and gets a +4. And it seems like a lot of people get dinged down for the most innocuous comments. Maybe some people have Sporcle enemies...?

If you did this for countries....it would be the toughest quiz ever, you would have to segment it into boxes like they do for the letter quizzes

I'm surprised so few people got Wyoming in relation to the other states. I would have guessed more people would have tried both alphabetical and reverse-alphabetical order.

Speaking as an American, if you got them all right, then you will not fit in, because we are not that smart

Not too much time for me - I ran out with Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas unguessed. I tend to think of states more geographically than alphabetically, and I just didn't have time to think of what spots I was missing. I thought this was a fun quiz and concur on countries of the world alpabetically (even though I'm sure it will kick my ass).

Man that song did me wonders for this quiz. I found myself singing that song for some reason yesterday. Sporcle usually predicts what type of quiz I want by what I do the day before. It's actually kind of creepy.

I ran out of time - had the last 3 to go as well as Maryland and Oregon which I missed on the way thru. Pretty pleased tho, as a non-American who has never heard of 'Fifty Nifty'!! Also - agree about a countries one but think you'd need to specify how many of each letter there are!

That's funny how many folks recall the "Fifty Nifty" song for this. I honestly thought about making this quiz because of my 3 year-old's bedtime routine I do with her. At some point I got tired of singing the same old songs to her each night so instead I decided to recite the states alphabetically. Now she requests I do it nightly. :)

@Ireland and @tigerschick: If you're curious.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_HeLofy7IE I think every American kid learned that in grade school. At least they used to....don't know if they do anymore?
