I love this quiz. It's short, simple, and makes me want to go home and watch "Best in Show"! Now a quiz of all AKC-recognized breeds, that might be pretty tough.

"Rhapsody has two mommies."

God loves a terrier, but apparently not the working group. I forgot the busy bee.

Can't believe I forgot terrier! Terriers are my very favorite breed. Cute and cuddly, easy dogs to feed. They will lift you up whenever you are down. Terriers average 40 pounds.

Aren't all dogs sporting or non-sporting? How can you be neither?

dumbest quiz EVER. who actually enjoys watching dogs run around on plastic grass?
Jun 18th, 2009 at 16:10 GMT
It would have been nice to know only 2 of them actually are dog names..... than the rest are categories lol.

Hooray for the Kids in the Hall reference!

I can't believe I got four (and new herding but couldn't think of the word "herding"). Apparently, my mom's love of dog shows has rubbed off on me a bit too much. Still... dogs rule.

i didnt get any except the non counting best in show lol
Jun 18th, 2009 at 17:26 GMT
Fun quiz. You can easily get them if you've seen enough dog shows or Best In Show a dozen times like I have. (Love that movie!) I've always wondered why they didn't come up with a better name then "non-sporting" group for that one. The others all sort of describe what that group does or looks like but all they say about that the non-sporting group is what they don't do. Non-sporting, hmmn, almost like they are the elderly men screaming at kids to "Get off my lawn!" LOL
Jun 18th, 2009 at 17:35 GMT
Originally, all the dogs were in one big group. Then they split them into "sporting" and "non-sporting". Then they split the working dogs out from the non-sporting group, the hounds out from the sporting group, and so on. At this point "non-sporting" is just a euphemism for "miscellaneous."

Darn. I tried "sport" and "sports" - didn't try sporting.
Jun 18th, 2009 at 17:59 GMT
Well, I tried typing in my ex's girlfriend's name as a bonus...it didn't take. *shrug*

where do spaniels fit in
Jun 18th, 2009 at 18:30 GMT
Spaniels are in the sporting group. They're hunting dogs.

How about a quiz about different kinds of parrots? No? Yeah,I guess that wouldn't be as popular...
Jun 18th, 2009 at 19:09 GMT
Non Sporting is a stupid name.
Jun 18th, 2009 at 19:12 GMT
@sdh: Thanks for the explanation, might be time for a renaming though! 5/7 and I'm a cat person, I'll take it.
Jun 18th, 2009 at 19:28 GMT
I always loved that my Dalmatian growing up was a "non sporting" dog. Fit pretty well with the rest of the family :P
Jun 18th, 2009 at 20:04 GMT
What's non-sporting? Do they cheat at cards? I (Sausage - hip on the left) am of course working. Woof.
Jun 18th, 2009 at 22:42 GMT

Sadly they cancelled the televised element of Crufts in the UK due to selective breeding and dogs getting defects.
Mar 24th, 2011 at 20:31 GMT
yay, i got 7 in 17 seconds. i like how it accepts utility, gundog and pastoral
Nov 10th, 2012 at 02:43 GMT
got all 7 in 15 seconds, why not try 7 quizzes where you guess all the breeds within a group, or you could have ONE quiz, will all of them in, divided under each group!
