I guessed both "Juarez" and "Bolivar" and got credit for neither...are we to be expected to type out the entire official name?

I was going to make a joke at YYZ being named for the Rush song, but then I looked it up and learned that it was actually the other way around. Toronto just got one more tally in the "awesome" category in my book thanks to this bit of trivia.

Never heard Schiphol referred to by that really long name. I've flown in and out of Amsterdam at least two dozen times and we never, ever, heard it referred to as that. Please just allow Schiphol.

very very picky quiz. It should accept "National" for DCA. Also, I typed "boston logan" (because that's how the PA system and everything always refers to it, welcome to boston logan international airport) and didn't get credit so maybe that can count too.

I have only traveled by plane once, so I did poorly on this quiz. Most of the answers I got were the ones where all I had to do was type in the city that the code looks like. Thank you, various cities quizzes, for providing me that much, at least

i was so excited when i saw this quiz because i know all of the major us air port designations, but that's by city, not by the actual air port name, and other that that my knowledge is limited to a couple canadian one's, so how bout it sporcle, maybe one where you give us the airport code, we name the city, there are quite a few that would make it harder than it would seem.

@Michael: Random trivia, the ORD is from when O'Hare used to be called Orchard Field.

Argh. I kept typing Istanbul Ataturk instead of just Ataturk. That's a pain in the arse. Much harder than expected.

I second brianc. "National" should be acceptable for DCA. Nobody who's ever actually lived in DC refers to the airport as Reagan. Kind of like how Parisians call CDG "Roissy" and Romans call FCO "Fiumicino".

I typed in "Pat McCarran" for Las Vegas, which wasn't accepted, only "McCarran".

On the other hand, "Ataturk" and "Bolivar" were just shrewd/lucky guesses on my part, and I was just lucky when I entered "Gandhi" on the same principle for New Delhi, since I was thinking of Mohandas (the Mahatma) rather than Indira Gandhi.

I join the chorus calling for "National" instead of Reagan, because- speaking from personal experience- you should not name an airport after the Great Communicator if it can't tell you which baggage claim you need to go to.

not a good quiz, some airports are named here with the city name, other with the airportname. Very confusing. Like Amsterdam, aint amsterdam airport, but is called Schiphol. Or otherway around: when typing Istanbul, it is given as wrong answer

Aagh, the ones I missed were mostly just named after the city - I am surprised there are no Brazilian airports like (GRU) Guarulhos or Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Seconded, thirded, fourthed, whatever. REAL people who live in DC resent the naming of National Airport after an addle-brained, curiously popular former actor. It took an act of Congress to compel the Metro to name the airport stop after him as well. You have to understand, the District votes something like 90% Dem. And many still remember being told that Catsup is a vegetable under his gov't assistance policy. So long story short, everyone knows DCA as National.

@horseydeucey, TwinTown, others: There *are* people who call it Reagan. I know: I live in Southwest, and I've heard them (although not generally people in Southwest). I think that it's a function of your political affiliation and how new to the area you are. While most people *in* the District are Democrats, somewhat fewer residents of the metro area (especially in Northern Virginia) are so, although the area is still majority Democratic. (Note that DCA is in Northern Virginia, not the District.)

Good quiz, although you can guess some of the more difficult ones pretty well. I will jump on the bandwagon of those who still call DCA "National", not so much out of political disdain, but because of habit.

Tough one. Got a measly 7. Should have got France though. Clearly I need to do more travelling! Should have guessed Renaissance figures too instead of trying to think of Renaissance artists with initials even remotely like FCO.

Why do people always vote down comments from people who say they did poor in the quiz or explain why they missed an obvious answer? Is journey pointing out that he only got 2 right really a horrible comment?

flawed quiz - i know yyz is toronto, but don't know its called pearson...who cares what the airport is named after in some cities...no one says, "i'm flying into pearson today"...more iconic names sure - o'hare, laguardia, LAX, mccarran, gatwick, heathrow....pearson and others on this list? not so much.

HollywoodLeo: The comments section should be used for discussing the quiz, not to boast the high scores people got on the quiz or whine about how poorly they did. That's why these types of posts always get voted down.
