If anyone gets 100% on this without cheating I'd be amazed.

I think when they get to the version of the largest cities of the world it will be ridiculous.

Wait a minute, Sporcle can always teach us new things! Who's been getting uppity enough to suggest otherwise?

I'm surprised Mombasa ranks so low. It featured pretty prominently in the Somali pirate story a few months ago, and the new video game Halo 3: ODST takes place exclusively in the city of New Mombasa. Not that it's a household name, but you'd think it would get more than 5% recall, especially in a quiz that's all about African cities. Also: I got Bo by accident. :)

I find it amusing that one of the cities on the list (from the Central African Republic) is called Bimbo.

what's sad is, I'm sure there's someone who's gonna practice through the night, and still end up shouting, "That Beau Bassin-Rose Hill gets me EVERY TIME." It's bad enough that sometimes I forget Cairo.

I'm fairly sure Sousse is Tunisia's third-largest city. Although I've only passed through there on the way to Tunis, I did do a lot of research before my trip. Wikipedia backs me up, but I'd have to check another source.

At this point either one person is twice is over twice as smart as everyone else who took the quiz, or someone cheated.

2 things I didn't like: "Giza" should be accepted for "Gizeh." The breakdown in percentages ought to separate out a little differently. As is, the range "49-70" includes everyone who can name all the capitals in Africa plus those who can name up to 17 other cities. That's a pretty big difference in ability (if you get 53, you probably just memorized the capitals; if you get 70, you probably know a little bit about the geography of many of these countries).

What happened to Banjul (formerly Bathurst), the capital of (and thus the only place whose name I remember in) the Gambia? Has it changed its name yet again, or is it eclipsed by three places upriver that I never heard of?

@Jordan117 Agreed, probably the effect of those on here who've learnt every obscure capital! I'd say that here in Britain, cities like Mombasa and Zanzibar are fairly well known as tourist destinations, but I guess less so in the USA

No, smarty, what's embarrassing is that I missed a couple I've actually been to. Argh! 74's just not good enough for someone who used to have to know the continent professionally...

Was able to get all three in Morocco, South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Algeria, and Egypt. Got two for a couple others (Kenya, Namibia, Sudan, Libya, Tanzania). Capitals of several others. Overall, though....sheesh. 71 overall. I like quizzes that make me think and teach me something new, though. Well done again, Sporcle.
