	@Ben: are you sure about that? Chad's flag was formally adopted in 1960 and it seems unlikely that nobody in the Chadian government had an atlas. Chad and Romania use a slightly different shade of blue (indigo for Chad, cobalt blue for Romania). Actually, Romania was using a slightly different flag in 1960, with the state coat of arms in the centre.

	I keep getting Senegal mixed with Cameroon and Guinea with Mali. Why are the African flags so confuzzling? =\| I can also never remember which one is Gabon. I'll just keep trying. xD

	Sorry for triple comment, but I think it's helping to remember Cameroon and Senegal by thinking Senegal's star looks fairly good, but Cameroon's looks a little forced. Idk. xD

	At Davidr; it is a little disputed whether the blue is different, but to all intents and purposes, they are the same. The crest was removed more recently, but the colours have been in use for hundreds of years. Given that the Chadians designed the flag, rather than having a traditional one resurrected, it could be construed as shortsighted.

	Maybe the guys from Lesotho made it simpler than the Libyans: no flag at all.

@John2: You're missing something. Lesotho's is blue, white and green horizontal stripes with a black triangular-looking hat in the middle of the white stripe.

	Bray: I think the African flags are so "confuzzling" because they originate from empires and so adopt colours from their imperial rulers. I might be wrong, but you can guess which countries were ruled by Portugal quite easily.

	@Paul: Actually, all of the Green-Gold-Red flags stem from the flag of Ethiopia, which has used them since 1798. They have since become known as the Pan-African Colors. Ghana was the first independent nation (after Ethiopia) to adopt a Green-Gold-Red flag in 1957. The flags of at least 16 current African nations are based on the Green-Gold-Red color scheme. The former flags of Cape Verde, Rwanda and Zaire (now DRC) also used Green-Gold-Red.

	Additionally, Portugal had a relatively small collection of territories in Africa: Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau and the island nations of Cape Verde and Sao Tome and Principe. All of which were established while Portugal had a White or Blue-White flag. However, the African nations gained their independence from Portugal while it flew the current Green-Red flag. Some of those nations do incorporate Green and Red into their flags, so it could be debated whether they were based off the Ethiopian or Portuguese flag.

	@radiosilence: Very true. The flag of Libya can claim the shortest heraldic description - "Vert". The only other flag that would have a shorter one whould be a flag that's completely yellow - "Or".

	@ Porygon: Western Sahara isn't a country. It is not sovereign, and thus is not it's own country. It is controlled/disputed by Morocco and Algeria.

	It's amazing how well mnemonics work for memorizing flags. Like Seychelles is pronouced say-shell, it's easy to remember, because it's pattern kind of looks like a seashell.

	I love all the flag ones, this is the hardest continent tho! Don't know if it helps anyone else but I remember that SeneGal has a Green star on it ... and Cameroon is the other one with a star in the middle. I also remember that Sao Tome and Principe has 2 parts so it has 2 stars on it.

	omg this is awesome, it took me a good 2 weeks of practicing, but i finally got them all... i had to write a list with stupid little comments, like "benin is bendin" and worse just to remember them, but i have now. got it right with 7 minutes to spare this time
