	Good map! I would suggest that Cape Verde and Mauritius could each use one of those little arrows to make it more obvious that they're countries. Mauritius in particular doesn't really stand out against those little French islands in the area. I think it would be good to have one or more quizzes that were _only_ about the overseas territories. For instance, you could name all the territorial possessions in the Caribbean, or the territories on the UN's official list of Non-self-governing territories, or the list of British overseas territories, and so forth.

	yep Sao Tome et Principe is the French name, what is the Portuguese name for it? Remember, Portuguese is it's official language. O, the Sinai peninsula is part of Asia, not africa...

	@cocky: Morocco claims sovereignty and currently runs the country; the Polisario Front wants independence. There was a civil war from the late 1970s to 1991 and there are plans for a referendum on autonomy. But it's all a bit up in the air.

	@jack: The country refers to itself as São Tomé e Príncipe. However, this quiz uses the English-language names of the countries. Ivory Coast/Côte d'Ivoire is unusual in that the Ivorian government has requested that Côte d'Ivoire be used as the name of the country in all languages. Thus, Côte d'Ivoire is accepted because it is one of the English names for the country, not because it is the French name.

	I originally learnt it as Sao Tome e Principe and had to unlearn that for these quizzes. It caused me no end of frustration!

	Vegtramer: I doubt you'll ever actually read this, but my guess as to why the Sinai doesn't fill in when you type in Egypt is that, while Egypt is mostly in Africa, the Sinai Peninsula is actually a part of Asia. As such, Egypt is one of only a few countries that straddles two continents. Russia, Turkey, and Kazakhstan are the others that are usually recognized as doing so.

	By that logic France would appear on five continents since they also own territories in North America and Australasia/Oceania. The UK would be the same (unless BIOT is considered part of Asia), Denmark would appear in North America and it all gets more and more confusing. It's best not to include territories on these quizzes. There are separate quizzes for territories, I'm hoping one for France arrives soon.

	@Sam: Peter actually has a good point. The French overseas Départements (Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana and Réunion) are integral parts of France, with exactly the same status within the French Republic as mainland France and Corsica. They are fully represented within the French government and are in the European Union (they're even show on the map of Europe on the Euro banknotes). Likewise, although they enjoy a large amount of autonomy and aren't in the E.U., Greenland and the Faeroe Islands are integral parts of the Kingdom of Denmark, also represented within the government. The American and British overseas territories, on the other hand, are just colonies. They are owned by the US or UK but have no say in the country's government. (France also has other overseas possessions, with different levels of representation in the French parliament. These, however, are not considered to be part of France.)

	@Sam - my main point was on consistency, seeing as French Guiana is marked on the South American map, surely Réunion which has the same status of departement d'outre mer should at least be marked on for consistencies sake - or vice- versa. Whereas the possessions in Australasia are not on the sme footing as integral parts of France if my memory serves.

	Sorry, Peter, I misinterpreted and thought you were trying to get France included in this quiz. My point remains that it would get messy. There are loads of little continental overlaps that have been neglected (Portugal, Spain, Yemen etc) and loads in the other continents too not to mention only two contiguous transcontinental countries have been picked up on when there are several others. The UK was a bad example since our territories are not integral parts. I had counted New Caledonia as outre-mer, it is not. Oops. I think the reason Greenland and French Guiana are highlighted in the other quizzes is because they cover a rather substantial area of land on their continents.

	@Peter: I don't see that labelling French Guyana or Greenland creates an obligation to label everything else. Those two are labelled because they're big and obvious; the other French overseas departments are much smaller and labelling them would make the maps rather crowded.

	I don't know how I managed to have been enrolled in some type of school since 1987 without hearing of Eritrea. Furthermore, t first, I thought it was pronounced "Yur-REE-tree-uh," and chuckled when I saw it was next to Djibouti...then, I looked it up and realized I was 12 .

	@ Sam sorry I should have made myself more clear, I think I probably changed my mind between my comments.... @davidr, fair point although I'm not such an advocate of a "size matters" approach, especially considering the island is visible on the map (as are the Spanish/Portuguese islands in the atlantic)but yes I do see your point- I think out of this there is a need for more quizes on dependencies etc! (ps. the Falklands are noted on the South America map - how nice it would have been for my argument if they were smaller in land area!)
