Your title is mystifying. Is Quirk your English teacher's name? A couple of corrections: the Jessamyn West story is "Then He Goes Free" (not Hoes), and the author of "By the Waters of Babylon" is Benet (or Benét, if you want to fool with diacriticals), not Bennet.
