how is a mummy like a sphinx?
Apr 5th, 2011 at 01:13 GMT
The instructions state "animal that is somehow associated with the creature." I never say that any of the animals are "like" the monsters. A couple of these require a little bit of thinking outside the box. If anything, "sphynx" is kind of a word play clue. If one can understand the history behind mummies, certain places like Egpyt, cats (sphynx) , sphinxes, then one can catch the association. I guess so far one has got it, which is fine.

"Outside the box"? The only thing the sphinx and the mummy have in common is an association with Egypt (and that association may be tenuous because sphinx is a Greek word--it means "strangler," not cat--a Greek myth which may have had little relationship to the stone structure near Giza). Otherwise--zip, zero, nada. I don't see the platypus / Frank's monster association, either, but maybe you know something I don't on that one.

nat129, cantthinkofaname: you guys, and perhaps others, are missing the point. don't take all the associations/links so literally. try thinking a little broader. I would explain the sphynx and platypus, but that's no fun. PS: I'm really not trying to sound mean, please don't take my tone the wrong way.
