Not only are the clues cryptic, some of these settlements are pretty small and relatively obscure compared to the whole UK (Newmarket, Whitehaven). I've heard of all these places but few of them would immediately come to mind when doing a Sporcle quiz.

Love it, some really good clues, lots of lateral thinking required. Couldn't get 'Emu's Rod', after googling it I realised why - it relates to something completely before my time!
