We should forget this whole Cinco de Mayo thing and start celebrating Limba Noastră. It sounds like those Moldovans know how to party!

I'm a college student in CZ and even imagining that somewhere out there is a country where people drink even more makes my head hurt really badly.

Nigeria has a large Muslim population that (presumably) doesn't drink much, so the Christians there must really be getting smashed!

My email spam folder would seem to indicate that at least some Nigerians drink heavily.

I wonder how much of the drinking in Hungary and Czech Republic is actually attributable to British stag and hen nights in Budapest and Prague....

Really surprised by South Korea. Asians are not as tolerante as caucasians to alcohol, their levels of alcohol dehydrogenase are very low.

So virtually all of you commenters seem to believe that drinking is cool. It's sad to be high up on this list, not cool. And people in these countries probably aren't constantly partying either. I'm sure they have all kinds of reasons for drinking (one of which probably IS partying), including many, many social and personal problems.

On another note, the statistics for some of these countries seem to be considerably influenced by booze-shopping tourism. This would also explain why Andorra is there. Frenchies and Spaniards go there for duty-free liquor. To a lesser extent, the same may apply to Czech Republic where many Germans and Austrians go to buy beer. Or Estonia, where the Finns go. Don't know if Moldova is popular with Ukrainians/Romanians though.

@Naali - drinking is cool. Alcoholism isn't. No one here is celebrating alcoholism as far as I can tell.
